PS3 sound options, which one do i choose?

I have a Samsung LN40D630 HDTV, Samsung HW-E450 Sound Bar, and PS3.
I have an optical cable from the sound bar to the ps3 and hdmi from the tv to the ps3.

I want to know how to set the audio on the ps3 for optical so i can get the best results, only problem is i have no idea what to select in the ps3 optical out put menu. Keep in mind i do not care about blu-ray this is strictly sound for games only!

Dolby Digital 5.1CH
DTS 5.1
AAC
Linear PCM 2 CH 44.1kHz
Linear PCM 2 CH 88.2kHz
Linear PCM 2 CH 176.4kHz
Linear PCM 2 CH 48kHz

also there is an option under video (not sure why) for audio - bit-stream or pcm. not sure what to do with that either.

any help is greatly appreciated

Going to Optical you loose certain feature that HDMI provides. Seem like you don't have a receiver, I would set PS3 to PCM, so that the PS3 is decoding the audio and send it down range. Is the sound bar the only speaker you have ?

Your soundbar is only 2.1, and does not accept multi-channel PCM output. Your best bet would be to use Optical DD/DTS 5.1 so that the subwoofer is utilised. In your case, PCM will only output two channels, and not the subwoofer.

Yes, aside from the tv speakers the sound bar is all i have. So from what i gather set the ps3 at pcm and use only dd/dts 5.1?

I have one of those soundbars, minus the sub. It won't accept DTS. Yours may, but mine does not.

so what does the Samsung HW-E450 support? i cant find anything on what it supports.

Crutchfield says it will decode DTS. So, you might be OK. Give it a shot. I know you aren't going to get any of the lossless formats, but who cares on a soundbar.
