updated a couple of days ago to 4.31.30 .. do you see anything higher than that?

Only changes I suspect are that my Picture Wizard settings don't do any CMS or White Balance anymore.. or maybe it's just my imagination..

Weird...I tried to look for update...but it says there's nothing....I updated to 4.23 after I got the TV few days ago. Strange we're not getting it...I wonder if they set it different in Canada?

After experiencing the blackout screen of Sharp 60LC6400U and yellowish Vizio E601-A3 with cloud issue, I returned these two back to Costco and settled down to this TV as my local BB just got 1EA in stock last weekend. While still trying to get used to the magic remote, I have following questions:

- What is the best setting for game and cinema mode? Though you can see some postings for LM7600 or LM4700, it seems none for this model.

- How to make the WIDI work? As I don't see it in user manual, is it in onscreen user guide?

- Have a Denon AVR 1613 and wondering whether all HDMI source should go to TV directly or should they be routed to receiver? Which is better?

- What file type the DLNA supports for video, so far it seems only MP4 works.

- I have a dish network VIP722, what is the remote code for this TV? Is there any regular type LG TV remote in replace of the magic remote?

Though Still think the Sharp 60LC6400U has the best picture quality , I am also happy with all-round performance/functions of this TV.

Agreed, this is a sleeper model and likely wouldn't get official reviews or settings. All of us in here are hoping some enthusiast gets their hands on one and properly calibrates it using calibration equipment and shares the generic settings so we could tweak it to personal taste.

That said, IMO, the general guidelines would be to turn every advanced control and picture option off in game mode. It is really a neat mode and I do see a difference in TV response switching between some other mode and game. In my brief tinkering I've realized the TV is bright enough to be run at around 30 Backlight during day and under 20 Backlight in a dark room. White level can vary anywhere between 88 and 92. Black level between 50 and 60 (this is the most tricky one because this TV crushes blacks badly if not carefully set. Avoid dynamic contrast or Local dimming.. they contribute to this problem. Set color to taste.. something between 50 to 60 depending on taste, input and other settings. I've found that I require a bit of green in the tint setting, up to 10 sometimes depending on input and saturation settings. Again these are just very rough ballparks that I've found myself gravitating towards. YMMV.

For Cinema, set through HDMI using any calibration DVD of choice. Again, try to get a decent calibration using Gamma 2.2, and the Black Level Option set to Low. Easier set than done as once again the black crush issue complicates things.

I'll let someone more experienced answer that.. onscreen guide mentions things but provides no explanations.

Depends. One could choose to route things based on which remotes would be used in the end to switch between inputs. The benefit of everything passing through the receiver would be that all audio processing gets done there. So if the receiver is capable of handling it this would be a preferred route. High def sound coming in to the TV through HDMI cannot be passed through the TV optical out.

Going by file extensions, I've used Divx and avi successfully.. I'm sure there are others that work.. I'd have to refer to the information sheet of the TV on LG's website.

Don't know the code.. someone else might. There is a remote but very difficult to find. LG doesn't even list it on their website... A search for the term "LG remote" or "Sears parts" on this forum will probably spit out the part number for the remote.

i would try the phone call to LG and request a free regular remote.....others have had success doing that...just tell them how the magic remote has given you an injury and your no longer able to use it...that should get 'em to cough one up .....either that or tell them that reviews on various websites indicated that the TV was supposed to come with both remotes.

when my TV arrives, i will be doing the same,... i can already tell i hate the magic remote.

I tried WIDI a couple of times but always disconnected after attempting to establish connection. Don't know what went wrong. But from the adapter showing to laptop screen, it looks like WIDI receiver in TV is first generation.

Also bought the 60LM7200 over the holidays. Will be receiving this Friday and will report back. Currently got an 47LE5500 for the last few years. Beautifull television, not a single complaint. Not even sure why I went for the 60 LM. Same as everyone else, cruising the boxing day sales, on FS, saw it on sale, convinced myself I should get a 60 incher (pure greed actually sa the 47 is ideal but hope the 60 of the same will be mind blowing). Researched the LM7200 and as everyone else find nearly zero information on it, but that massive savings at the time from FS made it look very attractive. Come to decide to go for it, look closer, zero stock on ON. Great, sort of a relief actually. Back on the FS website the following day, just looking around at other things, suddenly ON got 10 units in stock. Figger now or never and pulled the trigger then and there. In less than an hour those 10 units were gone. So this thing will be delivered on Friday. Always been skeptical when it comes to this big electronic things, i.e. luck of the draw if it works out of the box or not and if it's good etc. I'm hoping its the same deal as the 47 incher just bigger and maybe a bit better since it's newer. I think the reality is any new tv in your home will look awesome, its when they're side by side in a store you can go crazy noticing the finer details, but once at home and you're attuned to it, no real problem or difference.

Have the TV for a couple of days now. Overall, I am quite happy with it. It was a tough decision as there are little comparison between Samsung 7100 and this one. I managed to see one in store and at first was quite disappointed by the picture quality..but it turns out it was in a bad setting. There's definitely some slight difference between this and the Samsung. The depth and contrast seems better on Samsung..although it was not side by side..so had to run between two TVs to compare. In the end, we picked LG over Samsung since it's $400 cheaper and also I thought passive 3D would be more convenient than active. Since using it for the past 5 days...everything is quite satisfactory. Picture quality is excellent especially with HD content. Obviously, with any TV, once you put it up and nothing to compare it to, it's hard to tell how minor differences are. I am not too familiar with the problems with LED TVs..certainly I do noticed some whitish light (clouding) on left upper corner when the TV has no signal / image...but this seems to correct to minimal once there is picture and signal and it's hardly noticeable during viewing content. Not sure if Smartfunction is slower than Samsung due to lack of dual core chip, but it's acceptable. I do agree the input list is a bit of a pain to get too with many steps...it would've been smart to have a way to just rotate the input settnig instead of having to choose from the menu. 3D is quite good.

So, overall, very pleased with the buy. I wish LG would actually have a support page or something for this product though. Kinda ridiculous to not have it listed anywhere at all. I don't know if other models are assembled in Mexico, but this one is and not sure if it affects the quality. During my research however, I was picking between this and the Samsung 7500 (as it was selling same price as a 7100). Surprisingly, there seem to be several disaster problems with the Samsung including the TV not turning on at all or the image completely go wonky. Mayb there are way too many high tech stuff on it and create more problems.

Anyway..that's my input so far. I think for a 60 inch LED, this is certainly a reasonable buy.

I noticed that Futureshop have them in Stock at my local store, so I cancelled my order from Christmas Day. The price difference will be $100 if I pick up locally, but when you factor the shipping etc it pretty much works out the same. The only thing at the back of my mind is the new models coming out soon - Reading the CES announcements. Would the 2013 similar spec model be much more $$$?

one thing ive learned from reading the threads that started in early last year is that its best to wait and see how the new models do in the hands of users...and get a later in the season build to be safe.

Ah, good point. I did see that some of the 2013 models will include Google TV. (meh..) Not sure how good that would be.

Yeah, pros of waiting are that you get a model that users have put through its paces. Plus, you get several recommended calibration settings to choose from.. that's the only thing missing right now . wish several of us were co-located; we'd share an i1Pro to offset the cost

Possible 3D issue??

I have had this tv for 3 days. I have watched maybe 5 3d movies. I have noticed that infrequently I see a quick flash of static. If I rewind it doesn't happen again. Any one else notice this? I am using a PS3 as the Blu ray player. I will switch to another Sony player this weekend to see if it happens. I think it has happened at least once with every movie I have watched. One movie it happened 4-5 times but when I rewound it did not happen.

This only happens during 3d watching. Happened twice in the movie I just watched.

Other than that, the 3d picture is amazing. Every bit as good as my active tv.

I managed to get the local FS store to match the one I ordered online from the web. So it ended up cheaper without the delivery. You might be able to get the sales to do it. You can always wait too...It's electronics, there are constantly new stuff coming out. I am sure by next year, the price for this will be good to get a 65 inch or more.

Could it be the PS3 having problems with the 3D discs?

good point. BTW - was in a FS store today and those Sharp 60" are well priced.. but the one with 3D is $1999 and the one without is $1199 - ah.. but sharp uses Active 3D right?
I spent a time comparing 55" to 60" in terms of size.. and yeah, 60" would be great for movie watching when there are the black bars on screen.

oh, I did get a chance to play on a 47" LG with magic remote. Remote worked quite well. I was planning to use a Harmony One programmable remote anyway.

The remote isn't as bad as some made it to be. The ergonomics could be better cuz the most used button is way at teh button which makes it awesome to press and it does make a lot of steps to change input...they should've just do a toggle thing for input.

I think most other 60 inch 3D are $1999....I was looking at the Samsung 7100 or 7500 for that price...but in the end settle with LG and quite happy with it.. Just watched Transformer 3D last night...really good quality...just like it was in theatre!

Does anyone figure out how to access ez adjust menu already? Maybe some firmware hack? I believe that tv has a huge potential while unlocked.

I just brought this tv home today. We currently have a new Sharp 70" Quattron 3D in the same room. With a HDMI splitter, I was able to watch both tvs at the same time to make a comparison. First of all, the menus and overall user experience are much better on the LG. The picture is much smoother on the LG as well. I haven't calibrated either tv, but the LG also has better colors right out of the box.

My only complaints so far are the lack of a comprehensive manual (I haven't found one yet anyway) ,the damn input selection through menus only, and the fact that the dual play function is sort of a gimmick. Dual play doesn't suppress bright images enough to keep one player from seeing the other player's screen. That's a real shame, too, because it would be such a unique selling point for the tv.

Use the scrolling wheel on the remote to switch between inputs.

ah, thats interesting to hear. I saw a 60" Sharp Quattron and Quattron 3D last night in the store and they look great. They have a Matt screen right? They definitely reflected less light than the other TVs near it.

you need a remote that can access the service menu...ie the harmony etc.

I bought the last one of these from my local Best Buy last Friday and have been trying it out ever since. They are hard to come by but if you check stock on Best Buy's website there are a few stores near me that have them. The manufacture date on the TV is December 2012 so it hasn't been sitting around too long.

Overall the set is a mixed bag. The overall brightness and color on the panel is pretty even across the screen, the best out of the ones I've tried in the past year (been on a quest for a decent TV for months). Flashlighting is minimal with just a little bit in the bottom right corner. Color out of the box is good, and there are a lot of adjustments. Contrast is better than the Panasonic ET5 LEDs I've tried but not as good as the Sony HX850. Passive 3D is great as always and I enjoy having the extra 5 inches of real estate over the 55" sets I've tried up to now. Game mode works well and lag seems minimal.

The problem is that my set has some fairly bad banding issues. Both horizontal and vertical bands all over the screen. These combine with panning shots or blue sky to create some of the worst DSE I've seen so far on my quest. I don't have a pic but on a gray slide it looks pretty similar to this picture. The magic remote is okay. I don't hate it like some people, though I would prefer a traditional remote. My complaint is not that it is like a Wii remote. I wish it was, since the Wii remote uses a camera in the controller and two IR lights in the sensor bar to determine the position of the cursor with a high degree of accuracy. No, the magic remote solely uses motion sensors to control the cursor which means it is often uncentered and sometimes annoyingly imprecise. But really that is a minor quibble.

This doesn't work for me. It gives me an error message that basically says I need to change to the Tuner to use that feature. I assume it would switch channels if I had anything plugged into the coax.

There is a feature that is supposed to allow the TV remote to control your cable box. I could not get this to work at all, despite picking the right provider and box manufacturer. Now I want to turn it off but I haven't found how yet.

I'm not sure if I am going to return the set or not. The DSE is mostly unnoticible on a lot of content, and very bad on some. I've been through so many sets and I'm just sick and tired of the whole exercise.

Panny 55ET5 (#2) - Exactly the same as the first plus some minor banding.
Sony 55HX850 - Highly uneven screen lighting with the left and right sides much brighter than the center in game mode. Vertical banding.

Despite the bad banding/DSE, out of all of these the LM7200 is the best one I've tried. I really like passive 3D. Should I try "massaging" the screen or something? Will that help with this or is that just for clouding?

Also, do we know if these sets are IPS panels? I noticed when I touched the screen that it "rippled" and I didn't think IPS panels did that.

whats all this about?? Do you have a link to more information on how all this works? (Service mode via other remotes)
