These were taken late last night with my iPhone camera so quality is not so great especially on the dark screen picture.

TGM1024....here are two shots of the 7200 wall mounted...
It's 1 1/2 inches away at the bottom and 2 1/2 at the top, I used a low profile mount which did afford me about 1" of tilt which is all I need because I watch from about 15' away most times...
btw those distances are to the back of the tv and the speakers are touching the wall....

Actually, for some reason, your picture above does show the bezel raised from the screen surface that 1mm that was talked about. The other picture floated in the very beginning of this thread shows that the bezel looks flush with the surface of the screen. See below:

I believe you. I'm just wondering if there were two manufacturing revisions of the product with differing chassis structures. Obiwando's picture seems to be flush with the surface of the screen, no?

There is definitely a difference in bezel, also noticed his IR receiver is a different color, his seems orangish while mine is a chrome/silver...I'll post a pic later...

Actually, no, it doesn't! What you're seeing is the bezel/screen surface sticking out from the METAL SURROUNDING. That's NOT the bezel. The Bezel can include the sides, but is primarily the flat part facing you. In many modern TV's, the bezel actually lies under the same top-sheet of glass that covers the LCD array, thereby hiding it when everything is off. Obi's picture looks just like that---a single plane underwhich both the LCD and bezel are positioned.

There *must* have been a manufacturing split for this to look so differently, or else there is one heck of a optical illusion going on here.

That is what I thought but they said they could not get any more in - ever. I asked because I wanted to hold out another week or two. No more orders for this from Corporate. You cannot get it online - only in store. I have had the same exact thoughts. Going to get mine tonight.

Here are pictures of my screen/bezel. I think they may all be the same. There is the outer plastic casing, a bit of a gap, then the metal frame and then the screen is indented a mm or two inside if the metal frame.

Thanks for these. Yeah, I can see how the steep angle shot of the screen might make the bezel vanish somewhat....though Obiwando's picture still seems different. What of the orange sensor in Obi's pic?

I'll see about snapping some photo's of mine in the next day or two. Just got it hung and need to do an initial calibration. Awesome looking set.

I need help. I like this set in many ways. I had a little visible flashlighting in the corners but a little pressure/massaging took care of it. The corners are still a little brighter than the rest of the screen on some fullscreen content but I figure this is just part of edge-lit tech. The big question is: Am I the only one having vertical and horizontal banding issues with my set? If this is just par for the course I will just accept it but I need to know if other people are seeing this kind of problem or not. Here are some (crappy) iPhone pics I took to illustrate.

First is just a gray slide. You can see both the vertical and horizontal bands here. Some of them are darker than the surrounding screen, some are lighter.



Now, as with a lot of banding, it shows up on solid-color slides but not in actual content. This is true on my set MOST of the time. However, any time there is sky (which happens frequently) or I am watching a cartoon with a lot of panning (see: anime) they are clearly visible. Here are a couple examples. Again, sorry for the crappy pics. This phenomena is easily seen by the eye, but hard to show in still pictures.





So is my set worse than yours, or am I just being picky? Should I keep the set (I like it other than this issue) or should I return it to Best Buy (This would be my 5th TV returned to them in the past 12 months).

As for your pictures, if it's actually worse than what you're showing us, then no. I would *not* expect someone to pay $1700 for a picture with that kind of thing in it. I'm sorry. :-/

5 returns is nothing. I just had to return my 7th straight Samsung ES8000 for various issues. On the 7th exchange, I received the inevitable 90 day best buy ban on returns and exchanges so had to just get a refund instead.

Hi Ray, i just got my 60LM7200 less than a week ago. The flashlighting on the bottom corners was driving me crazy. I was thinking about bringing the tv back just because of the light in the corners. After reading your post i had to try it onn my set. All i can say is THANK YOU ..THANK YOU ..THANK YOU. It really worked and i am happier and much releived about the flashlighting issue with my set. now if i can get the blacks a little darker.......Mike

After looking at your pics I went and "looked" at mine again, it's the same as yours so they are the same as Obi's.....I haven't gotten a chance to take a pic of the sensor yet (daughter's home sick with flu ).

and btw, I'm with Roach, the tip for the corners helped me as well...so tyvm!

Ray - thanks for the tips for the corners...need to spend some time further out around the top corners. Unfortunately I may need a different articulating mount as I need to slightly tilt it down and it looks like my old one may be shot for maintaining that position.

I admit that I could have missed it but has anyone posted any settings beyond the backlight, contrast, and brightness? I'm just looking for anything in general to start with as I plan to bust out the DVD over the weekend. The colors do not look back out of the box but I do not mind spending a bit of time tweaking it.

I did have to appease my assistant last night (it was 1" too tall to fit into my car) and pop in the big fight scene in The Avengers in 3D. Wasn't too bad considering I had not done any tuning.

So did you both here a snap as you applied pressure to the corners of the screen?

If viewing in a totally dark room you can try recaibrating to a 2.4 gamma instead of the usual 2.2

Is this a beat-frequency issue with the camera, or is there a TON of horizontal banding on that "PICTURE" menu's white background!!!!????

FWIW, I've just noticed that the availability of this thing seems to have shot up at all the BB's near where I live. Maybe the warning of no further purchasing by corporate was erroneous, or perhaps the TV's were just re-stocked from corporate.

In any case, it's not as though they're vanishing off the shelves yet, so don't panic. BTW,

I've learned over the years to take *anything* a BB employee tells me with a grain of salt. I've had one tell me that two microwaves were identical when it turns out that 1 was sensing and the other was merely timed. I've had one try to tell me that patents are only good for 3 years and used that to prove why one device had a feature show up suddenly. I've had one say there's nothing wrong with Monster Cable advertising that a 480Hz TV needs a faster HDMI cable. I've had another say that it's totally normal to expect the best picture from AudioQuest's $1099 1 meter HDMI cable (no joke). I've had them misinform friends about PC's and their relative speeds. If I sat and thought about it, I'm sure I could list more.....Oh yeah, I've had them say it's ok to force the back of the DROID 4 off with your fingers when it absolutely MUST be done with a removal tool, They've told me it was normal to completely drown the phone when putting on the screen protector when it's supposed to be misted, they told me that an XBox can drive a standard TV at rates faster than 60Hz (despite the fact that the TV's themselves cannot take that rate IN), I had a ditz come in from another department and say she could give me a new phone at my existing number and she was stopped 99% of the way by a manager who kept her from actually asking verizon to remove my number and issue a new one, and and and and and....

I mentioned this to a BB manager once, and he said sadly, yes, their staff training is something that corporate is working to completely overhaul, and they're very much aware of the systemic problems.
