This may offend some ppl but I don't think there is an LCD that can be compared to the ST50. I mean.. sure you can buy an HX929 or Sharp Elite but your spending 3-5 times more and for what gain? All I can think of is stepping backwards unless your after the ansi-contrast of the Elite.. at a big price. I will never understand those willing to spend several grand, then to compare to something costing one grand and say "it's almost as good". An ST50 has no viewing angle problems from any degree, blacks that LCD can't match anywhere near the price tag, perfect gamma and the ability for a near perfect calibration (if not use D-Nice settings), dithering is minimized in current plasmas to the point of being irrelevant, perfect for gaming as it doesn't have motion blur and minimal input lag (next to CRT), and image retention is a thing of the past. I say thing of the past because I own several plasmas (including a UT50, VT50, Kuro) and all it takes is an overnight run of a pixel flipper to rid the most serious burn-in. Modern plasmas are getting friendlier by the day and a 55ST50 can be had for $999 caught on sale. I'd like to hear what others can come up with at that price in LCD world.
