I'm looking for a dead simple UI capable of controlling 4 TVs in the same room, each with their own Dish Network source. This is for my octogenarian grandfather who doesn't deal with changes well, but I also worry him about having to keep track of up to 8 remotes (maybe only 4.)
In my head, my vision for what would work well for him is some sort of touch-based interface where TV1, TV2, TV3, and TV4 are roughly static along the top of the screen, and when pressed display options for controlling the channel on the source, the volume, and mute for each respective TV. Being able to program favorites as the channel options would be ideal (e.g. ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, NBC, etc.) I'm not sure if he would need to access the program guide.
So first, is something similar to the above possible?
Second, what price range is he looking at?
Third, what devices are out there that could accomplish this? Is it as simple as using a Hopper and 3 Joeys with some Dish Network app on an iPad, or something that URC (or equivalent) makes? Or am I looking more at something from Creston, Control4, etc? Would I need to have a custom GUI made by a dealer/distributor? Or is there a ready-built solution, or something I can do myself?
Thanks in advance!
