So Ive been pushing off upgrading for a while since I do not have access to the initial wiring that was done to install my Infocus 4805P 7 years ago. Im in a condo and had the ceiling dropped 2 inches to accommodate the wiring. So the projector finally bit the bucket the other day. After months of grinding and whining and partial burnout out on the right side of the screen Im getting the red flashing light. Lucky me. Time to upgrade right around Black Friday.
Here are my concerns. I have the M1 DVI cable running across the ceiling which I do not have access to as well as component and a digital optical. Im ok with component running into my receiver but is there any reason to do an M1 DVI to hdmi connection since I do not have an HDMI cable or the means to get one to go directly to the replacement projector. If there is an adapter, is the signal the same quality? Also would it be capable of handling 1080p? Right now I am not using the M1 DVI and have component going into my receiver and using component out to the different sources.
The theater is set up currently in my living room. Its only completely dark at night. I have light filtering shades to watch for daytime which is difficult usually. Seating is approx 16' away from a 90" elite screen.
I have a budget of about $1500-$1800 and was considering the following:
Optoma HD33
Epson 3020
Epson 3020e which i assume would avoid the wiring issue. This seems to make the most sense in my situation. Would I have any issues feeding 1080 signal this way? I currently stream mkvs off my tvix for blurays and dvds.
