So this is the 1.77 aspect ratio version of the blu-ray rather than the original as shot version in 2.35? Or is that an error on the description? Great price but don't want 1.77 a/r.....anyone know for sure?

It's gotta be just a misprint. Every other 3rd party that's selling this set, as well as bluray.com, lists this updated version of the extended movies as being in 2.35 as well.

I jumped on the deal regardless, as I've been waiting for it to drop and don't have any of these even on DVD. I'll let you all know as soon as it arrives.

I actually ordered it thinking as you but then chickened out and cancelled and posted smile.gif I'm tempted still. Just seems to be a version intended for other than the US based on the comments about language/region...maybe the 1.77 comes from the dvd extras?

I f you are just looking to upgrade your DVD sets, Target has just the Extended Edition movies (2 Blu-rays each) this week until Wednesday for $10 each. They come with $5 Hobbit movie cash, too.

Yep. I saw it at Costco for $49.99 last Thursday and kept that in the back of my mind in case I didn't want to bite on Amazon's $6.00-better deal, but then got today's email from BB for $39.99, so now there is a copy bought and paid for and waiting for my pickup tonight at the nearby store. Since Amazon now charges sales tax, there is little advantage in going with Amazon when the price is otherwise the same or only slightly lower. The screencaps at caps-a-holic http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/test.php?page=5&search=&order=&alpha=L definitely show the green tint (versus the theatrical cut BD or the extended DVD) on LOTR:FOTR, so I suspect to be disappointed by that. Interestingly, the theatrical BD versus extended BD comparisons show a little more left and right image area for the theatrical version (at least for both LOTR:TTT and LOTR:ROTK).

That would be great/cheap way to replace the BDs of the EE of LOTR:FOTR if they had removed the green tint - but they didn't.

I went to the target website, but it does not look like these are extended. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

I couldn't find the EE versions on their site either. I just bought the FOTR and TT theatrical versions for $9.99 last week and have been hoping for the EE ROTK to come down...biggrin.gif

Did I see it right that the EE BR version of LOTR Trilogy is now $39 in Amazon today?

OK. Great. Bought them for $39.99 and selling my regular DVD trilogy EE version.

Haven't seen it lower than $40. Bought my set during the "lightning" Black Friday week sale for $39.99.
Speaking of 'lightning' deals, is there some trick to getting a popular one? I'm new to these, but tried for two of them today and before I could even connect they were all sold! For the Jurassic Park Trilogy, I then got added to the waitlist, but even though less than a minute had transpired, I missed out. Just tried to get the Bourne Trilogy a little while ago and again, gone in a few seconds and too far down the waitlist to get it.

Oh well, historically whatever I bought during the holidays and through the next year has always been cheaper the next year.

Looks like it's $55.97 now. Anyone know were I can get it for less?
Fry's had it for $39.99 this week. Sale might still be going on. I've seen it offered for the $39.99 price several times in the last month.
Must have only been for a day or two cause it"s $60 now.

If you haven't bought it yet, Fry's email today had LOTR at  $40 again, free shipping.

Thanks I did end up getting it on Amazon for $49.99 but used the amazon card offer. Total ended up being $4.99 smile.gif
