Marantz SR6007

I have a 5.1 setup (B&W 683/CMC2/DS3, ML Dynamo1k) and a Marantz SR6007 receiver. What mode should my "amp assign" be in when I am not using extra height or wide speakers? I noticed for some reason some "amp assign" settings boost my stereo bass performance, and others leave music sounding very dry. Because I am not using heigh, wide, secondary fronts, ZONE2, or 2 more rears for 7.1, should this setting theoretically not have any affect on standard stereo sound through my fronts or do I have these settings all wrong?

warensemble - how do you like the 683s with the SR6007? I am a relative newbie and wading through tons of information. I don't own anything yet except a Panasonic TC-P65VT50 plasma TV. I am starting from scratch. The B&W 683s keep coming to the top of my list (and associated HTM61 center channel + surround). Do you like the way your Marantz receiver powers the speakers? Did you consider the SR7007? It is $600 more and not sure it is worth it. If this is the wrong forum for this post, let me know,

Ha! No, although I don't mind a little Slayer from time to time. I don't know this one, though. Olfac generates from "olfactory." My friends always said I had a big nose. What can I do?
