Most Aestheticaly Pleasing Subwoofer

Which sub do you think is the best LOOKING (not necessarily performing).

I think my vote would go to the JL Audio Fathom/Gothams.

Salk and Funk come to mind.
Paradigm SUB 15. cool.gif

Of course, whatever sub is in my HT set-up at any given time also makes my list of best-looking subs. biggrin.gif
post #4 of 82
Easy. The best looking subwoofer is the one you don't see. So my vote goes to an infinite baffle with the drivers outside the room. Or something behind a screen, built into a riser, et cetera.

Was that cheating? Was that a non-answer? If we must talk about subwoofers you see, then my vote goes to Bosso's Raven.
Are we talking about the actual design of the sub, or how it looks installed?

I think the Gotham looks great, but I think the KEF R400b is the prettiest design to my eyes. Too bad it's performance doesn't match its looks.

KEF

If we are talking about high WAF and high performance (and a really high budget), I'd go with this.

Once it is covered with the fabric wall treatment, it's invisible.

HHmmmm, I guess I mean just looks wise. Not hidden or performance wise. Just when you see it, you are like WOW. I can stare at that all day. A kind of work of art. To me the JL's just look amazing. Paradigm subs come a close 2nd to me.

Oh, and please post pics so everyone can see what you are talking about. Especially if they are not well known brands.

This Kef one looks interesting actually. Different.
I prefer simple, but well designed. Like a SubM HP or ULS15.
My vote is for the Fathoms as well. I guess I am biased since I have a pair. I'll also agree with the funks too. Seeing as how my pair of fathoms will be resting on top of a pair of 18.0s within the month smile.gif

KEF Reference 209 looks a lot better than the JL Audio subs:

I'm not a customer, just an admirer. I think it's gorgeous. Hopefully I'm okay posting that picture here accompanied with a link.

I'd agree. I've always loved the look of JL subs, both home and auto products.

For sheer attractiveness, while I own SubMersives, I'd go with the Bosso Bass subs

Yuk!

Hard to beat a Funk Audio 18.3 with their gorgeous wood options and round inlay corners. Show me a picture of a finer looking sub.
No, I don't own one, the cost is rather large for me. Down to like 15hz in-room.

I'm sure I can't afford one but what do these"Bosso Bass" badboys cost?

(FYI, I tried Google and Bosso's web site and failed in my price check search efforts.)

My picture add is for the SubMersive, F2.

Followed up by a Funk Audio pic:

18.0C-3.jpg

I'm also very partial to the look/feel of either of Martin Logan's offerings; the Descent i and the Depth i.

I was trying to find out the price. As I had stated in my post, I had visited the Bosso Bass web site but couldn't find any pricing information and I didn't see any pricing information at the above page you linked. Any idea what these badboys cost?
Like they say........if you have to ask, you cannot afford them.

I know I cannot afford them. They do look bad ass and powerful. I like his analogy/design concepts.

LOL

Yes, that thought did cross my mind as we both know they don't come under the heading of, "For the budgets of mere financial mortals." With due respect, it would be like asking how much a Victoria's Secret, model is. When someone says high maintenance, what they're really saying is: "Don't bother asking."

I can't afford a Ferrari but their prices are readily available.

I've never heard of these subs before and was intrigued enough to follow the link to the website where there was pages and pages of technical information and specifications but no pricing and worst of all there wasn't even a call to action leaving any interested reader wondering what to do next.

They are lovely lookking though

I always liked the looks of this sub, the Velodyne DD-1812 shown with it's creator Bruce Hall:

And their site doesn't post a regular e-mail address nor do they post a regular street address or contact phone number.

There is no they there. It is a man with a dream and so you need to be resourceful in order to locate him. Keeps the tire kickers away ... smile.gif

Personally, I think they look like Scandinavian air purifiers but that's just me ... tongue.gif

I was curious a while back and PMd Bossobass about pricing.
He got back to me and was very nice about it as well.
They are surprisingly reasonable when compared to Seaton, JTR, especially when you
consider the fact that you are getting a bass system (eq module as well as amplification)
designed to work specifically with those very striking cabinets.

PM him for details

I also think the JL's look sweet...... Now my wife on the other hand prefers the looks of the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus or EX because of the inlaid plexiglass top and the fact its all downfiring. She says it looks more like an endtable than a speaker. So I have dual LFM-1 Pluses in my HT (Wife Approved)!

I'm pretty sure he was saying Ferarri would be hard to reach. No resourcefulness is required to reach Bosso; the big "Contact Us" button seems straightforward enough to me.

I'm partial to these little subs in our bedroom system which came out of my workshop but plan on doing better next time - I've since discovered that Micro Mesh makes polishing shellac a reasonable labor proposition and gotten into exotic woods.

This day and age, that seemingly simple problem solve qualifies as being resourceful... wink.gif

And then there's the thoughtful as I have no intention on buying these subs so it would not be nice of me to bother the owner for information. Sounds like folks are needing to spice up their life with some drama this Friday afternoon.

Personally, I've contacted several subwoofer owners for information as I have full intentions of purchasing a pair of their subwoofers but in this case, I have no intention as based on what I read, the subs are well outside our fiscal capabilities. Allow me to add, I don't have either methods of communication choice as I only have standard e-mail or the telephone. Just because one can, it's not considered nice to insult people.
