Help with Theater room lighting automation please!

Hi,
i am totally new to lighting automation and need help in figuring out what exactly to purchase. In my ongoing theater build inside the room there are 2 of the 3 gang boxes installed With 6 zones for lighting( recessed lights and a few for LED rope).




I will be using iRule for all of my AV gear which will be housed in a seperate room right behind my theater theater room and sharing a common wall.

My problem and Question is i want to know what dimmer switches should i buy for the gang boxes along with supporting equipment to control the lighting with iRule. I am open to taking either the DIY or custom installer route for making this happen.

For IP control that's affordable I would look at the Insteon line from smarthome.

Not sure about integration with iRule, but it may be possible.

You can control Insteon with iRule. One option is to get their ISY controller (approx $350) which has a REST interface that iRule can utilize directly. You can also get an IR-enabled version of the ISY and just fire IR commands it with your iTach via iRule (which also means you can then have your normal IR remotes send commands to the ISY to control the Insteon devices).

They also have a SmartLinc device that has mobile apps...iRule can use the SmartLinc to control Insteon devices.

If you exclusively only want to use iRule and just want an interface to Insteon, SmartLInc is the way to go (and is in the iRule builder already I believe). If you want to explore possibilities of scheduled stuff, condition-based programming, etc, etc, etc, then go with the ISY which is extremely powerful.

Thanks Vyrolan and Oman 321. The suggestions will be very helpful in my decision. I also browsed and saw that some people use Mi Casa Verde VERA3-US INSTEON-Compatible Z-Wave Controller with Wi-Fi to control Leviton 4-scene controllers to go into the gang boxes.

Another vote on the Insteon too. Been using it through the house, and planning to use it in the HT too.
