tv mounting outside

So for christmas I would like to hang a 32" flat panel tv outside our pation of our town home for my husband. I'm trying to do this by myself as a surprise to him. I have bought the tv, outside speakers, and two mounts from craigs list. My reasoning for this is because I don't know if he is going to like it and I didn't want to spend too much money. So my plan is to hang one mount outside on the concrete wall and another mount inside on the same wall as outside. This way when he is not using the tv it can come inside and be used. And this is where i am stuck. Do I need to get a box for the tv outside to protect it? Do I need to use special cable or wires for this whole process. Someone help me please.

Can you tell us more about your space? Is it covered, etc? Wher are you located? Is weather a problem? You shouldn't need special cables. How do intend to get signal to the TV? Over the air antenna or cable, etc?

It is not fully covered. There is a two in roof piece covering the back. My plan is to splice into the cable line that is right next to where I want to mount the tv. And go from there. The wall is concrete and i live in missouri. Where I live should explain our weather. Lol. I have looked up online how to make a case for the tv and my brother is going to try to make it. But if you have any other advice please let me know. I really want this to be a perfect surprise for him. He loves to grill and be outside. We do a lot of projects together and he is always trying to teach me new things, just want to show him I have been listening to him. Lol.

OK, the cover, then, sounds like a good idea. How many speakers did you buy? Are you planning a full 5.1 surround setup? Are you planning to have a DVD player? If so, you'll need an AV receiver. You will need to have a cable box outside as well.

Even though I use a projector and screen for my deck setup, I used a short, plastic cabinet (originally designed to store garden tools but it's only about 3 feet high) as an "equipment closet." I drilled a couple of holes and put my reciever (a cheap home theater in a box from Walmart) and a cheap DVD player. I ran all of the speaker wire from there to the speaker locations. I store the subwoofer and cable to the projector in the bottom shelf when not in use. I leave everything out there all season and only take in the screen and projector. All in all, once I set it up for the season it's a 5 minute setup and take down.

So, I'm tihnking for you, tap into that cable line with a splitter, attach a coax from the splitter to the cable box, then run a standard HDMI from the cable box to the TV. There is no need to pay big box store prices for HDMI cable. Check out Monoprice.com for their cables and you'll be amazed at the price. I've had grat luck there and they ship fast.
