David provided a reply he received from Oppo a couple weeks back (see post #7178). He interpreted Oppo's response as providing gapless playback via dlna in a future fw release.
After reading a few discussions on JRiver's forum, it seems that gapless playback over dlna is supported by them, as long as the dlna renderer/player supports some dlna interface action via its "AvTransport" service. (SetNextAVTransportURI action).
This makes the gaps REALLY bad.
...and I've been trying to work out whether the Oppo reports support (via its xml device profile) for SetNextAVTransportURI.
The problem is, I have to find the device profile.
To do that, the Oppo-103 has to respond to my SSDP search (ssdp:all or upnp:all) broadcasts - which it does not appear to be doing at the moment.
I have a home-written IOS tool for doing SSDP exploring.
I also have Intel's UPnP tools for doing some of the same things from Windows.
I have run these tools from several different network locations (wired and wireless).
Interestingly, the Roku Streaming Stick plugged into the Oppo DOES reply to SSDP searches correctly.
I am in the process off setting up WireShark to see if the Oppo is replying and the rest of the network is not seeing it, or if it is replying incorrectly, or if it is replying at all.
Am wondering if one of my unmanaged switches is blocking multicast traffic - which is required for SSDP to work.
