Thank you for the various methods to stream internet radio to the Oppo! Unfortunately I have a 1st generation Nexus 7 which I love in all respects. But is it truly "useless" for this purpose? Surely there's some method to wire the Nexus? Or perhaps I have to wire the laptop.
I had the same difficulty with the Oppo Media Control app at the Google Play store. I wrote to Oppo Customer Support who responded immediately:
"Please try the following APK: http://download.oppodigital.com/BDP103/MediaControl_V2.0.2_beta_20131212.apk" It works a treat!
Billy, thanks for the apk. I'll have to give it a shot, although I gave up on connecting an external drive directly to the Oppo. I like using a computer with HDMI better since I enjoy Foobar's interface.
Google really screwed up the first Nexus 7 by not giving it any abilities to stream anything to the TV (other than Chromecast). However, I read somewhere on the XPA Developer's forum that there is a ROM which allows the Nexus 7's micro USB to output digital audio. It was developed for those who use the Nexus 7 as their car audio system. But this requires you to root and install a ROM. Kind of a pain. And it won't be wireless.
If you want wireless, you can also use Bluetooth, but it's my understanding that it degrades audio quality.
