A little early? Perhaps. But it's never to early for a $99 core i5 2500K CPU

Wow, that's an incredibly powerful CPU for $100. Must. Resist. Impulse buy.

Very nice deal. Too bad the Sandy's don't get the mobo bundle discount. Perhaps its time to retire my C2Q.

That's gotta be most CPU for the $$ deal going... It's cheaper than most i3s and just smokes them in CPU power with 4 cores

I just might run down to MicroCenter tomorrow, but I'd burn up about $30 of my truck at $.50/mile so I wonder if I call I can get it shipped?

I've always successfully had Fry's pricematch. For me, Fry's is 5 minutes away while Microcenter is 45 miles.

See if any nearby competitors will PM

The nearest Frys to me is just as far away.. I don't even know who sells PC parts around me anymore.

Microcenter for me is almost an hour drive too. It eats up much of savings...

Doesn't matter. These things went OOS pretty damn fast, as expected.
It looks like the going rate on the FS/FT forums will hover around 125 or so shipped.

So why are the external drives always the loss-leaders?
i5 MicroCenter deal is completely sold off everywhere.. so i guess no more of these. I wonder Fry's will honour the out of stock/discontinued microcenter deal offer now?

No idea but I bought a 3TB for 89$

I needed the storage anyways. That price is great.

I jumped on that. I don't care if I have crack external open.

Those Seagates are fast and actually use less energy at idle than a green WD.

I'm gonna wait out this Black Friday. Not that I need anything critical, but I could pick up a few "nice to have" things.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this holiday season is gonna suck for the retailers, and we may see even lower prices by the end of the year. (And my suspicion is supported by the fact that the dollar's value has gone up almost 4% in ~ a month, and there are no signs of it slowing down).

But then....I do have "some" empty space left in the rack....tongue.giftongue.gif

After i build my storage server, the next thing i am aiming at is a RACK. Where can i get a decent RACK for best bang for the buck? I checked mid atlantic, sanus, they are damn expensive.. just for fabricated metal attached with screws and bolts?.. :rolleyes.gif
post #26 of 187
u try e- bay ? If your willing to work a bit on refinishing (paint etc.) you have some good deals to be found . Only draw back could be shipping . Just a thought though
post #27 of 187
I got this open frame rack from Amazon, NEW, free shipping, for about $100. Granted it was about 3-4 years back. They are available even now for about $330 shipped from them, but keep an eye out. They go on sale often.
Just looked at Sanus EcoSystem Racks, they are going for 1200 dollars, was about to do some research, until i came back here and found the options are on ebay and amazon.

Thanks guys.
I wonder how much a fully assemble rack would cost after all the accessories/doors are added.. would it hover around the same cost as sanus ecosystem is charging??

Looks like a 120Gb vertex 3 for 49$

This flyer seems different than some if the deals I'm seeing posted elsewhere.

Anyone know if they run two specials ??
