I have an HP Touchscreen Envy 23" all in one windows 8 computer. I want to be able to use the tv as a second monitor, or when watching things from the computer, have the sound come out of my receiver.

Since my computer does not have an hdmi cord, is it possible to achieve this?

I know with the video I can do a USB to HDMI converter for the video, but I believe the audio would come through and 2 channel than. Is there any way to do this?

Looking at a pic of your PC, it appears you have a HDMI connection.

Is it an input or output?

witch one do you have there like 5 models starting at $999 and go up to $1700..the higher the Value the Better options such as BLu Ray and hdmi out, better processor and Video. you may have the HDMI Socket but it may not have the Hardware .. You have a" Line ou"t on the Rear and that will plug into a input on your Receiver or tv

Will HP's USB2 or USB3 Port Replicator work? It has an HDMI out and a DisplayPort out but I doubt it will pass 7.1 audio. It would still give you 6 additional ports that you can add a sound card to without using all the USB ports on the Envy. The Envy is an all-in-one so it won't have any high-end outputs. I don't even think it has USB3 which would be way better at handling HD video and audio.

I don't think ANY of the Envy series has an HDMI out. The HDMI IN is a $50 option that would be used to hook up a gaming console or other HDMI device.
