If you damage a speaker, would you know it?

Hello all,

I know this is kind of a general question… And I'm actually asking about a sound bar.. But I guess it is a general speaker question. If one damages the speaker, or in my case..one driver in a Yamaha YSP sound bar of 32 drivers that make up the speaker.. blowing it out., etc.. how would one know? Would one of those drivers simply not produce?
I think I heard once that speaker damage usually reveals itself? Is that true?

That depends on the damage... and in an array of 32-drivers: it's quite possible you'd not notice.

With 32 speakers, one or two duds would easly be masked by the others, unless the bad speaker(s) were to make weird sounds. The only REAL way to find if yamaha sticks some duds in there speaker bars is to test each one, if you have the time or need to know would be easy, but very time consuming.. If it sounds good to you than there is really no need to bother.
