has anyone bought any of the tables for Pinball FX2 in Windows 8? I see fcone and some others so I guess I should've texted on the Xbox my questions.

what I'm wondering about is whether there's you can demo the tables before buying them? the free table is okay I guess but it's really boring.

Not that I see. I've actually bought almost all of the tables, and the only two that I personally really like are Epic Quest and Sorcerer's Lair.

thanks for taking the time to reply! very much appreciated!

I haven't gone too much into Pinball FX2 tables. I have Paranormal and the first Marvel tables for the Xbox. Are the PC tables the same? Or are there PC only tables? I've been busy and haven't looked into it (and the no demos kind of discouraged me).

I just loaded Pinball FX 2 and tried to play the Star Wars table, but it says "please update to the latest version of Pinball FX 2 to play this table".

Uhhhh.... how do I do this? I thought Windows 8 was supposed to do these updates in the background? confused.gif

It doesn't update in the background, it downloads app updates in the background. You have to manually choose to update the app yourself.

In the case of Pinball FX2, the update might be new enough that your computer hasn't seen it yet (it came out late last night). Go into the Store, and if the updates button isn't showing in the top right, then try this trick: From the Store, Open the Charms bar on the right, choose Settings. Select App Updates, and you'll see a button to check for updates. Manually check there, and you'll see the update.

Thanks for that - it was completely unintuitive! If one has "auto-download update for apps" set up, it should install automatically - or at least notify with the option to install those updates. Or maybe have a "check for update" button somewhere in the app options?

I guess that's just being a Win8 noob, but I had no idea how to follow that route you mentioned and don't think I would have found it after trying.

EDIT: anyway, Pinball FX 2 keeps locking up when I try to do anything but play Mars, so it looks like it doesn't like the latest nVidia drivers. frown.gif
