edit: This solves most everything
games playable with with built-in Intel HD4000/25000 graphics:

HD video play/editing depends on CPU more than GPU.

DAW music production software benchmarks:
http://www.adkproaudio.com/benchmarks.cfm

"Those are PassMark benchmark scores. PassMark is a benchmarking software which runs the CPU through many stress tests like read/write operations, math calculations, and graphics processing. People who run PassMark can submit the score they got with their processor so those charts are showing the average submitted scores for each processor. I wouldn't read into the overclocked processor charts much because they include mild overclocks as well as extreme overclocks, and there's no way to know how overclocked the processor was when it got the given score. If you really want to see specific scores, you can click a processor from the list and it will show the last 5 submitted scores along with information like RAM, measured speed, hard drive, graphics card, etc."

look for one with a separate video card and not one that uses the ram of the system unless you want to be rebooting constantly. look at amazon for a refurbished lenovo. you get the same warantee as new and will save a bundle. one for 324.00 and a separate video card which are easy to install for like 30.00 bucks. and you have a great computer. that is a desktop do you want a laptop. apple sells refurbs on their site with same warantee as new. but hundreds off. go to apple.com and look on the left side after cliking store for refurbs. they have ipod ipads laptops desktops and iphones their with discounts. dell, toshiba and lenovo also sell refurbs. but check the price of new first and then go to refurbs cause sometimes the refurbs are more if the have been sitting their a while. new ones go down and refurbs after awhile are high compared to them. also look at buy.com and tigerdirect and newegg.com. they all have 0% interest on them.

i am not a fan of sams club or costco for computers they seem to be high and most models are had to compare since they are to their specs. i would stay away from compaq or HP unless you love being on the phone for tech support and the first thing out of hp's mouth is your credit card numbers,,,, if you get the jest. it was 25 or 35 for every 15 minutes. lenovo , asus and acer are good brands. gateway is owned by acer now. dell is built in china now and their tech support is either phillipines or india.
