Mitsubishi Service Centers replacing bulbs only

Today, on my quest to find a bulb for my dlp, I called several Mits service centers locally because I want the lamp now.

Almost all the service centers I called replace the bulb within the housing.

I asked "how long does that housing last" and they all explain that unless it melts basically forever.

It basically can last forever but it can crack, get brittle and collect dust, it's plastic. They're probably not OEM lamps. The benefit of a new housing is, it's new, ease of installation and you don't touch the lamp.

If I needed or wanted a lamp ASAP I would have no problem using the old housing. If Mits has your lamp it doesn't take long to get, I get mine in 2 days.

They are replacing with osram bulbs
