Need suggestions on the Definitive speakers

I found the definitive package at Amazon worth about 2K

Definitive Technology BP-8060ST (Ea) Bipolar Tower with Built-In Powered Subwoofer

Definitive Technology SR-8040BP (Ea) BiPolar Surround Speaker

Definitive Technology CS-8040HD Speaker (Center Channel)

Can you provide suggestions on this speakers systems?

The only change I'd make is getting the CS-8060HD over the 8040HD for the center. Two BP-8060ST and a CS-8060HD up front. Two SR-8040BP for surrounds. Two SR-8040BP for the back OR UIW BP/A if you go in-wall for a 7.1 addition. If the package is set in stone at that price, then the CS-8040HD would probably work fine. Drivers are the same and you would only be missing the 150 watt powered racetrack subwoofer. You STILL might need an additional stand-alone subwoofer if you want more bass extension but that is something you can consider after getting the package. Easy. If there isn't enough " boom ", you get more. biggrin.gif

But, the 8060s currently come with the 8040 center and surrounds for free. Just get it with the "free" stuff and see how you like it. You can always upgrade later.

Indian880, as others have stated, find some way to go with the CS-8060 center in leu of the CS-8040. You could always purchase this package, then sell the CS-8040 and use those funds to help in getting the better CS-8060.

But...

If it were me, I would look into purchasing a set of older and used Def Techs. You can get a whole lot more for your money this way. Speakers are not like electronics as the technology used in speakers does not change very often. Plus, there are not very many parts in a speaker that can wear out and need replacement, and even if they did, it cost very little to replace a driver here or there. I would look into going with a pair of BP-30's or BP-20's, matted with a C/L/R-2000 as that would smoke the BP-8060's and CS-8060, for a small fraction of the price. Heck, you could get those and also some good surrounds for under $1,200 bucks. That would leave enough room in your budget for a nice subwoofer and/or receiver.
