Hi Canton
I am very interested in MED600X3D
but when I read that "if 3D is not in your plan, the dune is also good possibility.", I'm a little hesitant because 3D is not my type
could you tell me what is model dune you mean here?

dune D1, maybe @dbone can give a better advice about dunes, he still has a few of them.
also i would say the mede600x3d choice is now a real competitor to dunes (2D) , the x3 are cheaper and with v2 beta firmware coming out and the releaese of my movies i would think twice because 3d is allways a great feature , using it or not.

I just watched DUNE HD Smart D1 (no hdd). It is much more expensive (€ 250 in France, yes, I'm in France!). MED600X3D costs 140€ (no wifi)
Me, i do not need a box with internal HDD, I just need "media streamer" (media files stored on a server already in my case)

it seems that MED600X3D doesn't support DTS HD?

and I wonder the host usb 3.0 has something usefull / the host usb 2.0 becase this box hasn't internal hdd ...

(sorry for my english)

It supports DTSHD. With HDMI you can either pass thru the DTSHD to your AVR (untouched) or you can downmix to 2ch stereo

I would not consider the Mede8er a real competitor to the Dunes (2d) until the Mede8er gets support for forced subtitles, fixes seamless branch playback, and gets support for a full/proper video jukebox. If the Mede8er can get these 3 things resolved then it would definitely move it up towards the top of the class. If you are looking for full BD Menus then Dune is the way to go

If you just need bluray iso or bdmv 2D streaming, I don't know why anyone would go with dune when there is a $85 US solution at amazon neotv 550. It's what I use and works great. Nothing is cheaper.

Neotv550 has been discontinued and has no more support. Dune has full jukebox support, which is important to many of us who have kids and has high WAF .

Does the neotv 550 stream full hd DTS-HD MA and/or True HD? I already have a 600x and I really really like it alot. Does what it needs to do for me by streaming 3D iso's with full hd, and of course 2D mkvs as well. Just looking for something downstairs, and since the 600x works so well, even though I don't need the 3D, I can still use it down there, I may just pick another one up a bit later. I know other people use the roku with Plex, but when I reading up on that back then, people were having issues with full hd audio, which is what I need.

Sorry, when you all are mentioning full jukebox support, what does that actually mean? I know that right now for the 600x it's a manual process in that you have to use Y2J to scrap the movies to pull the artwork, desc, box art, etc. Are you saying that full jukebox support will automatically scrap the files for you? Do any of those offer a jukebox like PCH? Where I can just open the app in my tablet and see the cover art , select it and and see the fan art, synopsis etc. and then just hit play from the tablet? I might get a second media player capable of playback from 3d BD ISOs depending on how well my A400 performs next week when I can finally test it out with 3D playback.

Is similar to Y2M just better. It won't auto scan your media you have to do it manually, but you can edit or add to the jukebox manually as well very simple and easy process. That's why I am hopeful for Mede8er to get Yadis.

Thanks Gus! I guess since I've only used the 600X, I don't have any other reference point for any other jukeboxes so I wouldn't know what I'm missing with the other stuff.

There are several box of HDI Dune and I have just seen HDI Dune TV 301 LA/U2/HD 149,00€ on amazon.fr
and lesnumeriques.com mark 4/5 for this box

thanks but it seems to me that neotv 550 is "quite old" and Netgear doesn't more new firmware for a long time?
(and not gigabit & hdmi 1.4 - important criterion to play HD (+3D) movies on network, right?)

You don't need gigabit for HD movies. For 3D it might help depending on the processor being used.

I saw this question posed a couple times, but never saw an answer - are there any discrete power on/off codes out there for the Mede8er remote?

Also, I've noticed on several 2D movie files that I've played (usually uncompressed MKV Bluray rips), I get a slight stutter every once in a while. Nothing too distracting, but enough to annoy me. Could this be related to the 23.976 problem I keep hearing about (but I thought that was 3D only?) I have the Mede8er set to 1080p/24hz ON, Auto Frame Rate OFF. I've tried both Samba and NFS with the same results. Oddly, I don't seem to get the stutter with 3D files (Full frame packed ISOs). I'm streaming the files from an unRAID server.

is it every 42 seconds or its random ? if is every 42 seconds, try auto frame rate on until the V2 release.

you also can check if is the 42s issues, by turning the interpolation frame mode in your tv , and test hows the outcome . (just for test purposes)

whats the titles ? all used with makemkv.

I have couple of questions :

1. Is there any plan for firmware updates via network ( Not sure it's there for 1000X3d or not, but I don't see in 600x3d)?

2. I am using dunex & dunextomede8er. I have two USB disks connected to 600x3d. How can the jukebox show all the movie thumbnails. As of now, I need to go to each of the disks separately

3. I believe yadis is Windows only? Is mymovies available for mac . The only hit I get is my movies for OSX ( which is a movie catalog system & not a jukebox/scraper)

I think there is only a discrete OFF command, but none for ON. I believe it is crucial to have discrete command sets to allow for a robust implementation in a HT automation system.

I posted this as a feature request over in the Mede8er forum and would appreciate if you could support this request.

I'm running into an audio drops problem with all the Blu-ray folders made from MakeMKV on a Mac and stream from a Windows Media server. The audio drops are always on the same scenes/spots on all the movies I have played. Some movies have more drops than others. The connection is from the box to receiver using HDMI.

But if I convert the same movie to MKV formate. I have no issue with the audio drop streaming from the same server. I put the Blu-ray folder on a USB drive and has the same issue. So that rules out a network issue.

Perplexed.

Yes, you can use ThumbGen, but I believe you have to change the settings to scrapped the correct files used by Mede8er. I think ThumgGen is too slow. I've tried it before, and I didn't like it.

can you be more specific you post is confused

1-you rip with makemkv (mac version) you will end with mkv file correct ?
2.- than you convert to mkv again ? what program ?
what file has issues and what dont have issue ?
