Will the x3d be able to store all the metadata on a locally attached drive if it doesn't have write permission on my NAS?

This, movie sets, and better tv support would make this the best player out right now.

Yes with the new JukeBox Aggregation functionality - You can have the 'dummy jukebox' with images and xml on any source ie network or local and the X3D will just play the videos on your NAS. You will even have Watched Movie functionality and Parental Control right down to Locking individual Movies via the dummy Jukebox.

Shoot, seems like even a perfect player has something missing rolleyes.gif

Thank You for that. I'm off the couch and in for one.

The current movie view shows 2 rows each with 8 movies. Is there a way to customize this view and have it show 2 rows of 6 instead so the cover arts are bigger? I currently own a wd tv live hub and the xml can be modified to for this behavior but I'm looking to upgrade to another player so I could skip chapters for bluray iso.

is ok for you, already in beta for almost a month, and very soon will be available + the aggregate jukebox

I'm trying to decide between the x600 and the x1000. I'm don't have a huge media library, but I don't want to run out of room on an internal drive. I don't want to hold out hope for Mede8er to release a future internal/external media library integration, so that has me leading towards the x600 and an NAS.

On the other hand, I do not have a dedicated NAS yet. And I don't know what to get.

So first off, am I better off not streaming for 3D blurays? I don't know how problematic that is vs. an internal or external drive.

If streaming 3D isn't a problem, which NAS seems to work the best with the Mede8er? And what protocol works best (Samba, etc.)?

Also, I have another room without a 3D capable tv. Which Mede8er (or other) product should I get for that room that would give me all the same playback features without 3D support (full BD audio support, BD iso and folder support, no cinavia, etc.)? Would the internal hard drive on the X1000 stream my movies to an x600 (or another media streamer) located in another room?

Nas- synology/ thecus/ Qnap

Streaming BD 3D ( NFS is required )

Mede8er player have NAS function but is not powerfull enough, sometimes a share pc is not enough.

If you short on budget get 2x med600x3D for both rooms.

Get a Nas and shares same library to 2 players, all using aggregate jukebox in version 2.0.0 , Ipad android jukebox control is a future release.

unRAID is also a very cost effective option for a NAS.

Would a Synology DS212j provide me with enough bandwidth to stream 3D Bluray over gigabit lan without playback problems? I honestly don't want to spend more than about $200 on a NAS (before hard drive costs).

Ds212j is more than enough.
Canton160, you mentioned that sometimes a share PC isn't enough to stream 3D BDISO. So I wasn't sure if a budget NAS like the DS212j would work. According to the Mede8er forum, there's a problem with Synology. I was just reading that the DSM 4.1 software for the Synology does not support the proper NFS 32K block size. DSM 4.2 is still in beta, but it's supposed to address this issue.

Hi Mede8er,

Currently there is a 2,000 movie limitation on a single database. Can you remove this limitation as aggregation across many shares will likely exceed that number for those of us with larger libraries? If it is not removable can you please explain why?

Thanks and regards, Peter

Have tested the upper limit in Mede8er X3D Series Movie JukeBox and happy to tell you that its 4000 Movies per Mede8er.db

There is already a well-functioning work-around in the latest official firmware from Mede8er (1.0.5) http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,9738.0.html

I use a Synology DS209 with NFS and can easily stream 90-100 Mbps bitrates, far beyond commercial 3D blu-rays. True, the 212j has a slightly weaker hardware, but I doubt it would mean serious problems and, if so, probably only for very few extremely high-bitrate files.

If not the 212j, is there another NAS you would recommend?

Also, why does it take so long to get registered on the Mede8er forum?

In fact, I would strongly recommend a Synology NAS! Fantastic functionality (incl massive development), reliability, support/forum and interface. In my eyes best of the market -- the only other serious option would be something from QNAP, but I personally much prefer the Synology interface (however, some claim that QNAP has better/more 3rd party applications).

If you feel that the DS2xx-series is 'enough' for your needs (i.e., you won't be needing a four-bay NAS etc), you could simply go up one step from DS212j to the DS213 model. Since I am using the DS209 model (an older version of the DS213) without any problems, you should be able to feel safe that performance etc is enough. (But, again, personally I believe that the DS212j should be able to do the job, the difference between DS212j and DS213 is not huge and my DS209 is far from stretched).

Hi Guys!

My MED600X3D just arrived and I did a couple first tests. More indepth testing will have to wait until the weekend.

My first impressions are good but I have already found a couple of things that I expected to be better after reading the comments in this thread and the 1000X3D thread.

1. Embedded Softsubs in MKV files just play with the X3D standard font and do not use the "pretty" or colored font that is used when playing back on a pc.

2. Is there any way to change the font or fontsize or position of the subtitles when using an external .srt subtitle file for an MKV?

3. Contrary to several posts in this thread or even on the mede8erforum HI10P 10bit MKV is actually NOT fully supported. The playback has graphical glitches and blocking.

I am still using the "out of the box" 1.0.3 Firmware. Is 10bit playback fixed for a newer firmware maybe?

Development is complete on the new NET API in X3D V2 firmware and this has been exposed to external developers and we should start seeing 3rd party IPad / Android Apps available on the App Stores in the near future.

How well does the Mede8er tablet app compare to the tablet app for the Popcorn Hour?

It's a great player. My only issue with it at this point is the lack of support for movie sets, and the hoops you have to jump through to get TV Series displaying properly.

Mede8er will not make the Apps - we have made the API and will open it to external developers and let them do what they good at. The specification of the Movie JukeBox API allows the Mede8er.db to be exported so we expect full JukeBox functionality on these devices and this should give users a great JukeBox experience.

Good thinking, really!! Better to focus on a stable, functional player than on bells-and-whistles that only create problems and distract developers from the core functionality.

Hi

Very interested to buy one unit.

I am at the begining stage of streaming videos.

So my setup would be:

- Qnap Ts219II
- mede8er 600x connected to my pioneer Elite Vx52. Signal sent out to my projector Optome HD33.

If I understand correctly I would use Mymovies on the 600x to browse my collection on the NAS.

This apps will get metadata for my movies over the internat and kept the list updated each time I add a title?

How about the sound, is the 600x act as a passtrough for HD sound format?

Am I missing anything?

Thanks for your help
