I don't need good luck. Dune is the only media player that has been solid. I used to own the Mede8er Med500X2, which I sold after 3 weeks of ownership. It's just funny that you went from stating that Micca was the best media player, and now you jumped the wagon to Mede8er rolleyes.gif

Anyone have any ideas about my problem above? I went ahead and changed the device name on both 1000XD and 600XD. For example i named it 6003XD and 10003XD. Both ips are 192.168.1.50 and 192.168.1.51 assigned to seperate devices. (Static) If one player is off the other player plays and navigates with no problems.

I rebooted the WIn 7 Ult PC and still no luck. I changed the NIC adapters to Auto -Negotiate instead of 1000 Full Duplex and increased the jumbo packets from 1024 to 9064 still no luck.

Im out of ideas. :-[ Don't know what to do now. Is this a known problem with two or more Mede8ers connected to the same LAN?

Help!

Thanks

If you have another PC, try to access the same NFS shares through that PC at the same time as one of your Mede8ers and see what happens. If the Mede8er locks up, than the issue is with the players, they might be locking down the share somehow. If it acts the same with the PC, than the NFS implementation is suspect. Do the players react the same over SMB?

I haven't setup SMB. I'm at work right now so i will try it when i get home.

Thanks

Just use basic sharing through Win7 and see how performance is. Shouldn't have to set anything up other than right clicking on the folder and choosing share.

Hey guys, I posted this over in the HDTV section as well, but I am having a major issue. I just got a 600x3d, and was playing a movie from my WD external hard drive, with an hdmi cable from the media player to my LG hdtv. Initially it worked beautifully, but about half way through the first movie on the day I hooked the media player up, a horizontal gray line appeared across the top of the television screen. This line appeared on all inputs, even when I unplugged all devices. The line progressively worsened, and became hundreds of gray and black vertical lines, and now it is basically a totally black screen, except for a small sliver at the top. I've tried a hard reset, but that did not work. Could an external device actually fry a television screen? I am really at a loss, please help.

that is a known LG problem usually if you leave the tv on for 30 minutes it goes away. there is also a fix of taking the back off the tv and resetting the ribbon cables for the display
post #549 of 840
Thank you for the response. Yes, someone else said it might be from using a new device on an input I had never used before. I will try leaving it on; if that does not work, is resetting the ribbon cables easy enough for a noob?

What about Android?

Release date is May and Android should come later. These Apps are 3rd party as we developed the API and opened to external developers.

Can the med600x3d shift the video up and down? I'm looking at this streamer as a replacement for a Dune H1, which can do this via the "custom" zoom settings. This feature is very important because my theater has bottom masking only, so I shift scope movies up by the amount of the top black bar.

Hi! I've read the full post because I'm interested in a Multimedia device. After a depth analysis among Dune Base HD 3, Popcorn A400 and Mede8er, I have a lot different opinions.

I was decided to buy A400 but the big problems that the firmware is having, is giving me second thoughts...

On the other hand, Mede8er 600 seems great for the main purpose: reproducing movies and tv shows. It has a great forum as well. What I'm worried about is the chip quality and performance. As currently the performance is great, I've read that A400 has a very better Sigma chip, and maybe not just now but in mid-term, it will be the king of Multimedias.

Last thing I'm worried about is the picture quality, the Sigma chip is suposed to give excelent results as It is a top class, althought the Realtek's from Mede8er which is in the middle and will show less picture quality.

I'd be glad if you could put some light on my concerns... Thanks!

If you were asking me to choose between the A400 or the Mede8er 600, I would have to go with the Mede8er. Picture quality is the same with both media player. Mede8er has better forum / email support. PCH doesn't have a USA / CA headquaters anymore. They moved over seas Hong Kong and some other place. I don't blame them since PCH phone support was one of the worse I've had experience with...might be number 1. Now, everything is handled via email or their Forum.

The only thing PCH has over the Mede8er in my personal experience and opinion is a better jukebox. As to your comment for PCH being the king of Multimedias.....I think they'll go out of business before they are the king of multimedias.

Does anything have a built-in jukebox that compares to the Boxee as of yet? While I did like my Boxee a lot, it bothers me that it's a dead streamer, and I actually have the network to stream HD audio at this point. But for my main living room streamer, it HAS to have a good jukebox. Now it doesn't HAVE to be built-in, as I don't mind messing with settings or having my PC run something that will give a jukebox like experience. I'm just wondering if I should just go the Mini HTPC route with XBMC or if any recent streamers can do the job. I would also like my next option to have the capability of streaming 3D content as well.

I don't know of any streamers that have a jukebox layout that would be as good as Boxee/XBMC. I'm a former/current XBMC user and the jukebox on the Mede8er is like going from CD back to cassette tapes as far as convenience and aesthetics. It's the only thing right now keeping me from exclusively going to the Mede8er. Even my wife hates it.

I agree with you. I would of bought a Mede8er if they had a full support for Yadis at least. I got tired of waiting and bought a Dune TV303D, which supports my current Zappiti jukebox. Hopefully, in the near future Mede8er will have a fully supported jukebox for both Movies and TV Shows with the option to edit on the fly.

If you are a member of the Mede8er Forum you can send a Email to technical@mede8er.com with a request to be added to the NET API group then we will open this thread to you and you will have all the info on the API.

Very excited, waiting for my MD1000 to arrive.
I'm using a PCH C-300 and am happy with it, but no we'll see what this baby can do.

Bah. Is there a cheap streamer that can use these cool 3rd party jukeboxes like Zappiti or Yadis? I guess $200 is cheap for a Dune, but it's still $200. smile.gif

Nope. That's why the cheap media player do not have cool and useful jukeboxes.

HI,

I have a question to those who have the med8er player already. I am at the planning stage for my new home construction which will have a whole home audio distribution through a HTD Lync-12 system

I would like to add a med8er player on my network to get to all my movies on a Qnap NAS server and to also get to my music collection on the same NAS

I was wondering if I can connect the Med8er analog audio output to the Lync system while having the HDMI output to my receiver for my movies, will this work? in fact my question is will the use of an HDMI cable disable the analog audio ouput automatically...anyone knows?

thanks

Does the qwerty keyboard remote serve any other purpose than to surf social media? Also, does this remote retain all of the functions of the included remote?

This. WD, Netgear, Sony, Roku. Etc. Try finding an off the shelf MP in the US that can play the stuff, pass the HD audio and incorporate the jukebox.

A PCH, Dune, or Mede8er seem all but inescapable to a noob like me.
