Since my trial version of AnyDVD HD is over, I'll need to download the trial of DVDFab and use that for ripping 3D iso's until I can find a deal on the software for either.
Dang, not sure why, but I'm kinda stuck between the 1000X and 600X now. Before I was going to go with the 600X since I wasn't planning on using an internal drive, but seeing how the 3D iso's take up so much room, you can only attach 2 USB external devices, so that space will fill up quicker, and with the 1000X, you can at least have another 2TB internally so that you can get your whole library visible. Oh wait, that's why you have a network share and stream the movies that way. I guess by the time I fill up 2 3TB external drives to attach to the 600X, maybe some firmware fixes will be in place for better network streaming of 3D iso's. I don't have a NAS or anything just a Win 7 64 bit machine that I need to enable NFS on and test when I decide which device to get....Darn, $35 bucks extra for the 1000X or keep that money and invest in more space.......decisions....

I think my plan (at least for now) will be to store my 3D BluRays on an external drive simply connect to my player of choice (I will keep several on my network for testing purposes). This will help me bypass any network streaming issues (although of course the X3D played back over NFS for me with barely an issue), and isn't a big inconvenience short term since I don't have a large 3D BR library. The rest of my media will stay on my server to stream (about 20TBs+)

Support for different languages, and skins.

Update: I tried Glass revisited skin and its even better.

Yadis with full TV support would make this player almost perfect. Heck, I might end up selling my Dune and PCH, and get two Mede8er600's since I am getting tired of maintaining two different jukeboxes.

Ok, just bit the bullet and purchased a 600X. Now, hopefully I'll have some time before it comes in to read up on setting up the device.

I ordered mine this morning, it's already at the post office. I should have it Thursday.

We have just completed some work with My Movies and shortly the My Movies Apps will support Mede8er X2 and X3 requirements as far as images and xml files.
I expect this should all happen with a week or so - once all testing is completed.

Just what nail is it? My movies support for there internal jukebox? Isnt it just a another 3rd party scrap engine to let there internal stuff process? Does not seem like it adds much, you already have yadis, yamj, now my movies. The nail is that the Mede8er can play files, as for jukebox stuff it still is behind everyone else for now, Hopefully they add better support for TV and music and such automatic marking of files as watched and what is unwatched

I agree with Halfelite, it is great to see more and more developers adding Mede8er support, I think this is a great sign that Mede8er is being taken seriously as a brand. However, I don't see much added with My Movies for Mede8er. My understanding is all it is doing is creating the necessary metadata/jpg files for the Mede8er jukebox to scan. It is not providing an actual jukebox UI for the Mede8er, you cannot use the My Movies App to control playback on the Mede8er similar to how it works on the Dune and HTPC (or has this been added). The MyMovies videos Canton posted (which I have used and tested with my HTPCs and Dunes) I don't believe have any significance to the Mede8er (except just being to see what you movie collection is on the iPxx/Android device).

Like I said, maybe My Movies has added more functionality specifically for the Mede8er, but otherwise it is just an alternative for metadata
post #74 of 626
Hopefully, Mede8er will get full support from either My Movies or Yadis.

How is the boot time for this compared to the Himedia or Micca?

This sounds like Mede8r would use MyMovies metadata for its jukebox. This would/could actually be an advantage, as MM's index creation for the Dune has been very unreliable and flaky for me.

Wow, impressive! Since you have so many players, would you recommend this X3D?

I would like to upgrade from an "old" WD TV (gen 2) and from what I've been reading and researching, the 600 seems quite good. What do you think?

Thanks!

My problem is that I already have 8TB's of 3D movies alone....
I guess I could use a multi bay enclosure, though. I just don't see ANY player being able to stream some of these high bit rate 3d movies reliably...

I ordered an MED600X3D the other day. It left the other side of the country this morning, so I don't anticipate getting it for a few days. One question that I'm not 100% clear on after reading this thread (and some of the MED1000 thread)...will I have issues playing untouched 3D Bluray ISO's via unRAID server? Seems some people are having issues with certain file systems but I didn't see anything specific about unRAID.

Is that a true statement? I realize MakeMKV supposedly rips everything as lossless, but if you rip a full 3D Framepacked Bluray to MKV, aren't you losing something, at least as far as the 3D goes?

Also, I think the latest version of DVDFab allows for ripping only the framepacked 3D movie file to ISO, with no loss.

I know unRAID supports NFS. The unknown is whether Mede8er can mount/negotiate NFS with unRAID using 32K buffer size. When I asked unRAID this question, here's what they told me...
Quote:
unRaid supports NFS version 3 which supports block sizes from 4K to 1M (in multiples of 1K I believe). Normally a version 3 client will negotiate with the server at mount time the maximum block sizes for read and write that the two can support. For example, on a linux client system I type this command to mount a nfs share being exported by an unRaid server at 192.168.1.10:

mount -t nfs 192.168.1.10:/mnt/user/Movies /x

Looking at the mount via “cat /proc/mounts” command yields:

192.168.1.10:/mnt/user/Movies/ /x nfs rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=131072,wsize=131072,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.1.10,mountvers=3,mountport=57039,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.1.10 0 0

Looks like the two negotiated a block size of 128K. You can override the default by explicitly including the ‘rsize’ and/or ‘wsize’ mount options on the client.

Since linux NFSv3 supports block size up to 1M, I’m not sure how the two decided on 128K, but I could look into this if necessary.

Thanks!

The Dunes and Mede8ers I would say are my go to players. The only 2 areas that I really want to see Mede8er support which I think would then take them to the next level would be a fully unified jukebox, whether developed internally or via a 3rd party/community app (Proper TV Show support, One jukebox for multiple shares, etc...) and forced subtitle support (I believe this is a combination of a Realtek SDK issue along with BD Lite)

You aren't losing anything. mkv is nothing more then a container, using MakeMKV you will get quality the same as the original

Both DVDFab and AnyDVD allow ripping 3D to ISO. The issue is that this is causing some issues with playback over network (where using MakeMKV to create an mkv may help to alleviate the issue for those who have problems)
couple of questions is anyone using this with the wifi?
Could not think of a reason to get it but wanted to ask.
I know dbone was saying keep my 3d on a seperate drive were you using usb for that?
Just didn't know if usb 2.0 fast enough for 3D playback ?

I have had some issues with playback over network with iso and full rips, but mkv work well. PS that is normal bd I don't have any 3d stuff yet

Canton do they have that software for android devices

aren't there 2 us dealers for this?

Does anyone know if the 600x will take a 3d sbs or tb rip and output it as a framepacked 1080p signal? I've got a Benq w7000 projector and it seems like it's not very good at handling sbs content itself, whereas 3d bluray playback is perfect. I've used a TMT5 demo along with 3DTV Play, on my laptop to achieve this but for the price of 3DTV Play and TMT5 I could just get one of these media players and also avoid tying up my laptop for media playback duties.

Are you talking about an untouched 3D Blu ray rip? If so the Mede8er outputs it as a framepacked 1080p signal (wasn't sure if you were talking about the typical half sbs/tb mkvs that you typically see)
Yeh I meant the half sbs mkv's, can it output those as frame packed 3D instead?

I don't believe so. When I tested my half sbs mkvs I believe they were output as half sbs. I will let others confirm as well.
