Mede8er MED600X3D new 3D version to 2013 - Page 23

I purchased a MED1000X3D and moved my first generation WDTV Live Plus to the bedroom. I have been unable to register at the Mede8tor forum having sent them an activation email request numerous times. The networking was a little tricky as I could not get my Windows 7 PC to see the unit in Network settings, but I think I have figured it out. Using YamjtoMede8tor, I have created my jukebox and it makes browsing my movie selections much easier for the wife and I to select our movie.

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset of these units? The instructions say to pull the power plug, re-insert the power plug, and hold the power button for 20 seconds, and the unit is suppose to reboot. This does nothing to my unit but lock it up.

That's the emergency procedure for reinstalling the firmware. It's looking for the install.img firmware file when you do this so likely why it's locking up. Try the restore default under system setup, very bottom of first setup screen.

DJC, thanks for clearing that up. I believe I tried the restore and it did nothing.

Never tried it myself as I've never needed to. You can always reflash the firmware, that will certainly wipe everything and doesn't take very long to do.

Hi all

Completely new to Media Players, so please bare with me.

I am interested in getting the 600 model, but have a few questions I'd like to know the answers to first.

Currently my PC is in my Living Room. On the PC are all my media files which run through XBMC with no problem at all. To play my 2D/3D blu rays, I use my LG BD660 player.

Now because my PC is quite noisy, I'm looking to move it to another room which is about 50ft away, maybe even 60ft.

That is where the 600 would come into play.

Would I be able to configure the 600 to play the media from my shared folders on the PC (I already stream from the PC to my laptop using XBMC) via Ethernet at all? And if so, will the playback on 3D ISO's be compromised at all?

I'm looking to get the Yamaha YSP-2200 sometime in the future, so would also be interested to know whether the HD Audio tracks will be okay streaming too.

And finally, does it play titles with Cinavia?

Any help or links explaining the above would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

No issues streaming from your PC to the 600. For 3D BR ISO playback you just want to make sure you stream via NFS, this gives the most reliable results.

As well, no issues bitstreaming the HD Audio to a receiver

Any titles with Cinavia will play without issue on the 600 as the 600 does not implement Cinavia

Absolutely brilliant.

Thanks very much for the speedy response smile.gif

Could you tell me what I would need to do to set it up via NFS please?

And could you also tell me whether a HDD connected to the device via USB will handle 3D ISO's?

Thanks again for the reply.

HDD connected via USB to the 600 will play 3D ISOs without issue

As far as NFS, I think a lot of people use HanesNFS (http://www.hanewin.net/nfs-e.htm) which you set up on your PC

Two important notes to mention I am not sure you are aware of:

- the 600 does not support forced subtitles (so for example a movie like Avatar you would actually have to turn on the subtitles to see when the Navi speak)
- Seamless branch support is iffy (you would most likely only encounter this with Disney 3D Blu rays)

One way around this would be to convert your 3D BR ISOs to mvc mkv. This would give you just the main movie, remove the seamless branch issues.

Going to test out NFS later with XBMC on my laptop.

Just converting an ISO now to mvc mkv. When they are in MKV format, do the play intantly in 3D via the 600, or will I need to use the TV remote to turn the 3D on?

Thanks again.

the Mede8er should send the signal automatically to switch to 3D, I think you just have to name is a certain way (can't remember for sure). The only issue with mvc mkv is support is still spotty for (works great with the Mede8er but other player support is still a little slow to adopt)

Absolutely top job Damian. Thank you so much.

I'm going to order one now smile.gif

Yep, just need to name it Moviename.3DTAB.mkv, or just Moviename.TB.mkv.

Smashing. Thanks a lot.

Just got 1 more question then I think I'll be on my way.

I'm a sucker for clean interfaces. I've seen a few demos on youtube and the look on some of the setups looks really ugly lol. Is there a way to get it to look like XBMC at all?

Many thanks

Has anyone tried to register on Mede8er's forum in the past several months? I have tried numerous times and have never received an email to authorize the account (and yes, I have checked my trash folder). I have emailed Mede8tor directly as well as the US distributor. I purchased the MED1000X3D and love it, but would like to be able to post on the forums. I'm just curious if I'm the only one with this problem.

Yes I had the same issue when first trying to sign up, not sure what the issue is. I ended up PM'ing one of the mods that I found posting in another forum, Maasbommel I think it was, and he set me up.

You should try PM'ing Mede8er1 as he visits this forum fairly often.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will PM him right now.

Looks like the forum blocks some type of emails due to spam.
whats your email account ?

MEDE8ER doesn't allow gMail accounts registered to their forum. Best open a Windows Live / Hotmail account or other free email service, to register.

I am about to pull the trigger on this player. As far as I can see DTS HD ma and Dolby trueHD seem to stem from 3d ISO?

Has anyone tried streaming a .ts 2 D files with 1080p and full HD sound via their avr?

That is how and what I am streaming now via
My egreat for years. I rip my blu ray using clown bd, anydvdhd, eac3t and tsmuxer into a ts file only the movie and HD sound.

I assume the music jukebox app came out and is going strong? Any reviews of it?

Hi,
Thank you for any answer on this but does the MED1000X3D have this function or not this one either?

Is there an android app for these units?

Where in the USA to buy these, just one place or ?

Thank You for any reply from anyone!!!
600X3D and 1000X3D are the same except for design and latter's support for an internal hard drive. Former is cheaper. Best place to buy is mediaconceptusa.com.

So, the Mede8er's do not support forced subs even by making a MKV and flaggin the forced sub?

No, you either need to strip out all subs except the forced or make the forced track the first default track and turn on subtitles in the player default settings.

Mostly this. However, I do use the sd card as the location for my aggregated jukebox to track movies across multiple drives.

I take it one would not need a large sd card for this?

Also that new feature is coming "movie scraper" they call it (I think it retrieves movie info, pictures?). I wonder where that stores its info also?

Thanks to all!!

Also I just read on an amazon review that divx was removed, please tell me this is not true!

You may want to join the Mede8er forum and ask. I have my movies on a Synology NAS, and the XML, about.jpg (moviesheet) and poster/folder info. get stored in my individual movie folders.
