Move content from DISH DVR to harddrive?

Greetings. A buddy of mine has DISH and recorded a 1080i concert from AXS TV, which is now sitting on his DVR and also his external harddrive. Is there any way to load that concert onto a portable drive so it can be played back elsewhere in HD 5.1?? I missed the opportunity to grab it when it played live (I have u-verse) and it's not going to be re-aired. The DVD copy I have is ok, but not great by any stretch. I NEED to have this in HD!!! :-) Possible??

No, the recording will only play on your buddy's account. You can't move it around to different accounts or even copy it. It's encrypted...

Dang! Have to wait for it to show up somewhere officially, whether it's BluRay or a youtube vid.
