B&W DM580

Hey all, first time here.

Saw an offer for some 1989 B&W DM580's for $150. Anybody have any thoughts?

I currently have an Onkyo THX 9000 home theater system, and was thinking about replacing the fronts with these.

1.) would the current amp work for these speakers?
2.) is it worth it?
3.) should i replace the center speaker?

Appreciate any responses. Thanks!

Those speakers are nearly 25 years old.

Speakers of that age usually have problems of one sort or another, and correct replacement parts can be difficult or impossible to get.

Bad idea if you ask me.

Thanks for the response! The speakers were actually never used. I am going to have the opportunity for a sound check prior to purchase if I so choose. Still have the same thought? If they are in mint condition, I would think B&W would still have had a great product even 25 years ago, right?

If they are quality and I like the sound of them, would they work with the current receiver i have, and what would be a recommendation for a center speaker?

If the answer is still not worth the $150, what would you recommend upgrading in that speaker set up for a similar reasonable cost?

Thanks!
