If there a way to break the WIFI connection on this TV. I am no longer using the internet features and for now want to avoid upgrading the firmware until the issues that have been reported in this thread are resolved.

One user reported having to factory reset, the rest of us had to turn off Adaptive Lumina. Doesn't seem to me there's major issues for those that are reporting in here.

Im wondering if somehow my router is blocking necessary information that allows my tv to get updates.

All my updates have come from replacing the tv.
It'll come. Mine just got the update about 2 days ago.

Went from 1.1.5 to 2.021 this evening. I went out around 8PM and by midnight the update had been installed.

Mine went from 1.1.5 to 2.0.21 some time over night. Backlight Control was changed from OFF to DCR and the Ambient Light Sensor was changed from OFF to MEDIUM. No other settings appear to have been changed (I had taken pictures after my TV was calibrated).

Regarding PIP working . I have heard that PIP was working on this set (not supposed) to. I believe NachoB and JJthenovice among others had experienced this. Does it still working after the software update. I am going to purchase one just for this feature and I can't find any other unit that has this feature

Okay, looks like my previous post was deleted. ?? Hmm, anyhow....

I owned the Vizio for about a month. Had problems with the wireless, problems streaming, problems with the apps, problems with lip sync, problems with freezing up and random shut-downs, really bad flashlighting around the edges. But the picture was amazing.

The wife talked me into returning it and getting the Sony for $600 more. Glad (so far) that we did as there have been zero issues (so far) with the Sony.

See if this post gets deleted. I won't continue to post on this thread knocking the Vizio, but I did consider my experience a valid point for those that are having problems with their Vizios just as I did. I'll only post now as answers for any requests to elaborate. Otherwise, see ya on the Sony thread wink.gif

My set just updated to latest firmware and the PIP still works.

Hmm... mine just updated to 2.0.21 and now it's telling me my wired ethernet is disconnected and only allowing me to choose a wifi source. I've been using this set wired since I bought it, and this morning it's broken with the new update.

Anyone find a fix for the awful firmware update? My tv updated last night. Every time I turn it on, the set up screen shows, and I lose some settings. I no longer have to redo my internet connection (had to do a hard reset), but i still have to turn the backlight control and ambient light sensor back off every time I turn the tv on... I can't believe Vizio hasn't fixed this yet! Between this, and the horrible Amazon App, I'm thinking of returning this TV. mad.gif

I've just received the update and so far have experienced none of the problems other users have faced. I would suggest that those of you who are having problems try the following: Turn TV off and unplug it. While TV is off, press and hold power button (located on left side of TV) for at least 30 secs. If this does not fix problem try a factory reset (taking down all your settings before doing the factory reset). YMMV Hope this helps.

I had to go through the short set up again but no other problems after the latest update, the TV turns on FAST now.
Those of you having the issues after the update, I think I figured out the problem... You have to go through the WHOLE setup process and registration at the beginning. I'm not a very patient person, so I was going straight to the exit, since I don't use the tuner, and I'm not a fan of having to register the tv until I'm sure I'm going to keep it:rolleyes: .

2.0.19 to 2.0.21 last night. No settings were changed, and havent experirnced any issues

Mine also updated. Went through the brief set up process. No problems. Does seem like it turns on faster.

Anyone check their set with a calibration disc after the update?
The blacks seem blacker than before, but maybe it's just placebo affect.
I may recheck settings with the WOW disc later today.
I tweaked my settings today to reflect tge info from the hd709 disc. More specifically the contrast. Reducing contrast allows you to see extended information if available. The guys on the show felt if it is there, then they want to see it. I adjusted the contrast so it faded to background on 252 iirc.

I then had to slightly adjust color/tint

I then popped in my WOW disk. For comparison. If I use the wow disc to set contrast I end up with a setting of 80, if I use the 709 disc I get a value of 72.

The value of 72 gives me a nice gamma value on the wow disc of about 2.2. A contrast value of 80 gives me a gamma of 1.8

Four days after the 2.0.21 update and no problems at all. Picture still looks great. I think the folks who are reporting faster start ups are correct, I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the same thing.

Hope it's not something with the tv. I love it. Fingers crossed

bigmoe. how odd i had *exactly* the same problem right down to it being with original star trek season 1. i thought it was just something about the episode, but when my girlfriend went to watch something else it was also blue. i went into settings and they all looked good [i.e. the way i set them], so in frustration i clicked from one mode to the other [e.g. from movie to standard] and bam it started working again.

i also got the new 2.x firmware at some point recently, but i can't remember whether it was before or after this issue.

Work 70" finally got the update about a week after my personal 60". Today I turn it on, made a loud "pop" so I turned it off. As it was turning off, it popped again. I turned it back on, and couldn't find Skype in the store. I did a factory reset and no more popping, and Skype was right on my dock. All good now.

amazon app used to fail the first time I tried to run it, and work the second time. I'm still stuck with wireless only even though i have a cat6 cable plugged directly into my gig-e router... total shame. Now the amazon app won't launch at all. I love this TV and you couldn't beat it with a stick, but this new firmware update has me aggravated.

Check your DHCP settings in the network settings on the tv. After the update, mine defaulted to "off". You will either have to turn it back on, or manually assign an IP adress for the TV.

Got my replacement 701 today, it was born 3 weeks ago according to S/N. Seems good at 1st glance. It came with V2.0.19 firmware. Saw a couple Very minor flashlight effects on bottom edge when all white screen, barely noticeable. My 1st set had much more. No bright pixels. I'm happy so far, we'll se how this one does.
