I'm guessing that it's your cable box setting or something else besides the TV. How is it on dvd's? I think if it's good on dvd's then that eliminates the TV and the cable box. I'm using a Dish 722 dvr through a Yamaha receiver with no problems.

I am very impressed with the picture quality, but our set has terrible lip sync problems when our cable box outputs dolby digital over HDMI to the TV, which then outputs dolby digital over Toslink to the amp. I have the TV in PCM mode now... and it's in sync but it's only two channels. frown.gif

I sure hope this is fixed in future firmware, because I think losing surround sound is a dealbreaker for me.

Check with Vizio on the update, should've done it by now.

Stupid question but just to make sure ... You are connected to the net via Ethernet or WiFi correct? That's the only way your tv can update a firmware. Mine took 24 hours after hooking up for this update to take place.
It should just do it for you ... And then next thing you know you turn in the tv and it says your firmware has been updated.

Hi - I just bought one today and can take a photo if you still need it? Let me know.
It's been connected via wifi for days, still 1.1.4.

My lip sync issue exists with Blu-rays as well as the tivo sources.

I believe it's an issue with the TV taking HDMI Dolby Digital in and putting it out over the optical port.
I had the lip sync issue with funniest home videos, turning off surround and true volume fixed that but on the show that followed, Once Upon a Time on ABC it was really bad, to the point that setting anything wouldn't help. The lip sync setting only made it worse when I adjusted it. I couldn't even get it close. Changed the channel to NBC & it was fine. My LG TV in another room was fine with the ABC shows. This is all through the TV speakers.
I assume the lip sync problem only applies to sound coming through the TV's own speakers? a not a issue if your running sound through surround sound?
I thought updates only come over ethernet?? I thought I saw that somewhere in this thread...
I have 0 lip sync issues... my delay is set to 0. Hdmi in to set from stereo, stereo recieves input from ps3 and directv box. Both work perfect..

I'll give the TV a get out of jail free card today, as I mentioned in my last post "Once Upon a Time on ABC was really bad then changed the channel to NBC & it was fine".
I changed back to ABC, same show, and it was fine, It didn't mess up regardless of the audio settings. Comcast replaced my DVR box on thursday, it took him 2 boxes and 40 minutes / box (30 minutes to download bios updates each box) to get a box that worked (all refurbed Motorola boxes wrapped in nice plastic wrap). I found out that night that the "new" box wouldn't record correctly. Had them out today to replace THAT box and the 2 refurbed boxes he had on the truck were bad too so I still have the box that won't record until they come out again, so the box is suspect.
There was a post in this thread that said that updates only come when connected by Ethernet. That was false. I talked to a support person who stated emphatically that update would occur both on wifi and ethernet . I am conncected by wifi and I got the last update. As far as lip sync issues, I some with my cable box (Motorola DCX3400 Comcast). I set the audio out for hdmi to LPCM and that solved the problem. Technically it's the cable box's fault but the TV really has to share some of the blame because I've had two other TVs connected to my system with the same connection and have had no lip sync issues. YMMV
post #701 of 1192
Also, The specs on this TV on samsclub.com (if you scroll down to detailed specs) says: Power Consumption: 103.22W (Vizios website also lists 103.22w for this TV), but the manual accessible ON the TV says over 200w. The onboard specs in the "help\System info" states vertical freq = 60hz, shouldn't that be 120 hz? I have the 1.1.4 firmware version.

It had 2 black lines going from top to bottom & some blotches that were really annoying when watching hockey & the camera panned with the white background.

Today I exchanged my E70 for a new one & the picture is flawless. Watching hockey & very happy! No streaks or discoloration. I think the picture on this one even on non-white background is better than the other one. I think the inside of the glass cover didn't get cleaned before installation.

Nope ... I bought mine and set it up that night via WiFi ... next day I turned on the TV and it told me it had been updated to the new 1.1.5

So you can either be on ethernet or WiFi to get this update.

I run a TiVo Premier HD Box, WD TV Live Media Streamer, Comcast "old school" Motorola HD box (this is used when 2 things are recording on the TiVo) and a Sony Bluray player.

Not a single bit of Lip Sync issue on this this with any input at all ... by the way these are all running on the 4 HDMI inputs.

YES PLEASE thank you please do. Cousin coming tonight to help me pack it up. Many many thanks.

EDIT: never mind. As dumb as I felt for asking in the first place, I feel even dumber now bc upon inspection I find that the foam blocks are all labeled. Oops. Sorry for the false alarm.

Mine had this too.. Could only see it on a light color or white background and only when the camera panned from side to side. Almost like a water stain on the back of the screen or panel and was really annoying once I noticed it so had to exchange it. (Try playing Forza with that line right in the middle of the screen and really distracts you while trying to race!) The demo model at Costco had this also. My newest set seems to be ok but I've got my critical eye looking for things now that I've had 3 "bad" sets prior. So far, so good. And the $1519 sale ended yesterday @ Costco so I'm not likely to take this one back anyway (since I would have to pay the $400 difference for another set, Costco doesn't do exchanges). All in all, I'm still happy with the Vizio 70" and the PQ is fantastic. I suppose with a TV this size (and price range) it's not going to be "Perfect".

As for the update, mine all updated via wifi from my router, within 12 hours of hooking it up. As Falconman515 stated, when you turn your TV on it'll tell you in the upper left screen the update to 1.1.5 has been completed.

Close Captioning being grayed out - isn't this only because close captioning isn't available on that particular channel or program? Once CC is available it should no longer be grayed out, right?

Still haven't gotten a firmware update from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5. Called tech support, the guy's suggestions had no effect.

My "TV SN" is 03LFTRNXAP05811.

Anyone know if my TV is particularly old or new based on this SN?

Third week of January, minty fresh. One of the early E60s would never update, it was replaced.

Thanks Richard!

is that what the "03" at the beginning indicates?

Yep, build date of 3rd week in January 2013. Minty Fresh indeed! The one I picked up yesterday is an 03 also. I didn't check the firmware last night after setup but I will tonight and let you know if mine has updated or not.

Audio is via HDMI from TiVo Premier box to the TV ... then of course sound is via the TV speakers.

If I run the 7.1 surround sound for my TiVo, WD TV or Bluray I have them all going directly to the Denon receiver.

But no lip sync issues thus far when I just run the built in speakers from all devices via HDMI

I called tech support & they said that they roll the updates out in small groups to avoid having a mass screw up, so we're all guinea pigs.
For better viewing he also suggested setting the smooth motion to high, he said that it starts "Frame Packing" at a slow rate on medium setting and at a higher rate on high setting.

Thanks

Yes, I'll fit just fine. But keep in mind that since that mount tilts, the back of the TV will be 4 inches from the wall with it. Unless you are mounting it up really high (like above a fireplace) there's not much need in having a mount that tilts. You can get it a lot closer to the wall with one of the low profile mounts. I have one and it's only about 3/4 inch from the wall. Looks amazing.

But any mount that'll support at least VESA 400 x 400 and will support at least 75 lbs will work with this TV.

Good to know, thanks...
Which low profile wall mount would you recommend from Monoprice?
Could this one work fine?

Monoprice doesn't have low profile mounts that go up to 70"

I used the Sanus LL11

lowest low profile mount out there
Do you know a good place to find it cheap?
Any other model at Monoprice that will fit this TV?
The thing you want to check (besides weight spec) is the brackets that screw to the back of the TV, do they have holes that will line up with the holes in th TV? I hung a 47 in my livingroom with a bracket ffom Sams club made for 47's and also hung my Vizio 42" with a bracket made by the same company, only it was meant for up to 42" and the piece that screwed to the TV was shorter. The outer (last) holes in the bracket just made it. This would have worked for my 47" weight wise but not in bracket length.
