Quick advice needed!!

I know it's best to have all the same speakers from the same line but I found a pretty good deal on some NHT speakers. (2) Absolute towers and (1) TwoC center channel speaker.

*These will be replacing BIC PL89 & PL28, how much better will these sound?

2nd part of the question, I don't mind how the rear & side surround sound. So will it sound bad if I keep the BIC's for the time being? Even though they have horn tweeters.

I went from Polk 50's to 70's & CS2 to the BIC setup.


***If you know of any better front stage (L/C/R) for 1,000 ish. Please let me know. Looking to score some nice stuff on this holiday weekend.

fwiw, take a look at the focal814 towers and 814 center at accessories4less $1000 if purchaced together. great value for some very nice sounding speakers. imo would be big upgrade over the bic and polks

Would you take the Focal over the NHT? Also get free shipping with NHT and the reason I was leaning towards them was the 30 day in home trial.

Forgot to add the room is about 3,000 cubic feet. I sit about 12" from the front speakers.

I have the NHT Absolute Zero's and they're nice speakers. A little on the bright side, but in my opinion worth the asking price.

What don't you like about the Bics?

Seems they would be a great choice for your mostly movie use. Efficient, get loud etc...

The NHTs or most anything else is going to need quite a bit more power to produce the same volume.

Yes I have a sub. I sit about 12' from the speakers. The room is 20' x 18' and about 3,000 cubic feet

They are on sale right now and I can get the whole front setup for around 1,000 shipped.

I don't know what it is about them. The mids, I think? With the Polk 70's they were really "full sounding" but didn't get as crisp as I wanted. Thats why I went ahead and tried the BIC's out. I was told to buy the BIC over Klipsch. Was told that I'd need to spend thousands more to get the same sound that the BIC speakers can produce.

I just picked up (well ordered) a Outlaw sub. I have a PL-200 that I'm using right now.

The Absolute Center is only $189??? That's almost $100 bucks less then I paid not 2 months ago. mad.gif I bought two Zero bookshelf's and the Center for $600, so about 15% off.

^^^^ Thats the real reason why I'm asking. It seems too good to be true. I just really haven't heard much about NHT and there isn't many reviews I can find. I did find one saying the Absolute towers are in the top 10 for under 1,000 bucks.

I've never owned any, but have heard a set of Klipsch speakers with a horn. They were a bit too forward for my tastes - it was almost as though the sound was being pushed at me instead of washing over me. Very clear on the upper end but tended to be harsh, especially as the volume increased.

That's surprising because a lot of people own NHT's, and they seem to be well liked. My Absolute Zero's could use a bit more midrange, so if you get them I'd suggest the Two's instead. If I had it to do all over again I would opt for the Two's.

The Classic Two's have good midrange.

While I prefer the Focal, the NHT Absolute towers can be a nice one for you.

The towers have multiple bass/midrange drivers, so I would imagine they are far better at producing solid midrange then the Zero's I have (which are just satellites). Something else to consider are the Arx A3 speakers. I currently have the A1b's (bookshelf) and A2b (center) for review, and quite honestly I'm surprised by what they sound like vs. what they sell for. Very detailed and precise speakers.

The Focal speakers seem to be fairly priced. Maybe I'll just hold off and do some more research.

*Will a dome tweeter or any non horn loaded front stage sound ok, with horn loaded rears/surrounds?

Well since I ordered a decent sub, I think that the bass area will be covered. LFM 1-EX. Justfound out that NHT is still doing the sale. Upgrad the front stáge? Or leave it alone till after christmas/new years?

I just listened to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" for the first time with my Superzero 2.0s. It was like hearing it for the first time. I never heard it sound so good. The imaging, soundstage and vocals were more than I expected. I have a good sub with it this time too that helped out a lot. But the voicing of these little speakers was fantastic.

They can be a little thin in the midrange during certain times but overall they performed beyond my expectations.

I would not hesitate to get the towers at the sale price.

I like NHT a lot too. But that Focal 800v sale on A4L is hard to pass up. I would favor the Focal as well even though the NHT sounds great.
