I am seeing Feb 12th as the US release date. Can anyone confirm this?

007.com has confirmed the UK release date for February 13th. They haven't officially confirmed the US release date yet, but since the film came out a few weeks later in the US than the UK, it might be early March before we get it on Blu-ray here. I'd rather have it sooner than later, but there hasn't been an official announcement about the US release date yet, just the UK release.

Feb 12th in North America is now official (18th in UK).

"LOS ANGELES, CA (January 24, 2013) – Box-office smash, SKYFALL, will soon be available to own in high-definition, it was announced today by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. SKYFALL will release on Digital HD February 5th across all digital stores including Amazon, CinemaNow, iTunes, PlayStation, VUDU and Xbox Live. The SKYFALL Blu-ray and DVD will follow on February 12th in North America and February 18th in the United Kingdom with additional international markets to follow through March."

Extras are about 60 minutes long:

I think the audio commentaries during the movie are counted as an extra, so 2+ plus hours of the movie with audio commentary
and the regular extras make it a total of 3.

Very Sparse if you ask me. No doubt a double dip by the time Bond 24 is out is in the cards.

That's pretty sly of High Def Disc News. I certainly would not count commentaries as extras.

Cannot wait for this. I was so happy to see Skyfall return some of the key aspects of the Bond series after the slight departure in the previous two films. Now getting to watch it again here at home I'm sure I'll be able to pick up on other aspects of the movie which didn't grab me the first viewing as I was taking everything in at once. Only a couple more weeks until I can fill that empty spot in my Bond 50 collection.

Didn't think this film was anything special given the buzz... a rather by-the-numbers screenplay that I felt I'd seen countless times before in other action movies. The villain was introduced as the most clever, dastardly, and evil nemesis for Bond ever... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Wow... how original.

The cinematography didn't impress me much, considering how ga-ga DP's, especially Deakins, seem to be over the Arri Alexa (at only 2k to boot). Maybe it was the digitally stylized color timing choices, or lighting, or what... but it sure looked like digital video to me... and some shots were downright artificial and ugly.

I think I'll pass on this one.

Opinions on the movie are one thing, but this just doesn't make any sense at all to me. You must have seen an exceptionally poor theatrical presentation.

Agree, I saw it twice theatrically, once in RPX on a 2K Barco and once at a standard theater in 4K Sony. I never once thought it looked even remotely digital. One of the most film-like digital presentations I've seen so far.

^^^ The Arri Alexa camera will do that. It's my favorite digital camera. I still prefer film though.

Anyone not recognizing Deakins' skill, complaining about the cinematography in Skyfall let alone many of his other gigs, leaves me baffled.

The extreme edges of both side of the screen were completely out of focus, when I saw it. Even then, I could tell the cinematography was pretty damn good.

yes (and I don't care for posting my comment on-line here) dvdworldusa.com breaks the street date only to UK customers and not to US customers. I don't know how they get away with it. I hope the authorities seize them.

For those interested. One caveat: The disc menu graphics and art appears to be different than the Bond 50 set. I have no proof yet but it would appear that the physical blu ray disc's art will not match with the other 22 on the Bond 50 set. A real shame if true. Barbara Broccolli and Co. never learn how to treat the consumer right and apparently are still in a legal dispute with Sean Connery who I hope sticks it to them by not showing up for the 50th anniversary Bond segment in the upcoming Oscars telecast.

Amazon just dropped it to $19.99 for the blu ray. However I needed to cancel my original order in which they awere going to charge $24.99 (Amazon is a bunch of thieves).

No need to cancel the pre-order. Amazon will charge you the $19.99 when it ships (they don't charge your card until it ships). Are they still thieves, then?
