Can polk monitor 40's handle the wattage please help!

This maybe a newbie question but I found a receiver I like but I fear it may overpower my polk audio monitor 40's. The receiver is Sony STR-DN1030 it claims to put out 145 watts per channel while the polk audio monitor 40's say they handle 20-125 watts. If I use this receiver will it damage my speakers? Or are the numbers just inflated? Or can I turn down the volume on the receiver to not damage speakers? Any help appreciated!

This is the actual wattage I came up with when googled.
•100 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.09% THD, with 2 channels driven.

You control the volume. If it starts clipping just back off.

Thanks for such a fast reply! So basically the receiver is 100 watts? Second even if it is to powerful I can turn down the volume on the receiver an I will be fine?

There seems to be too much fear concerning receivers. Most of
the time people do not drive the sound, to max volume.
