I know that the AVS "Home Theater Computers" forum doesn't see much posting on laptops.

But odds are high that there are a ton of people here who own a laptop computer.

I tried google without success, and thought it might be easier to find a laptop specific web site here at AVS.

To get the ball rolling, I bought a Lenovo Edge E535 laptop yesterday from a 3rd party vendor at amazon. See:
http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-15-6-Dual-Core-500GB-Notebook/dp/B008FCF5WS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1353796344&sr=8-3&keywords=lenovo+edge+e535

BTW the details are messed up, but it has many vendor refs (48 new); for more accurate details (smaller HDD) see: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Notebook-DVD-Writer-Professional/dp/B008Z1OSC2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1353796344&sr=8-2&keywords=lenovo+edge+e535

amazon search shows "lenovo edge e5" including units such as 1. e520 (low end AMD cpu) and 2. e530 (Intel i5) and 3. e535 and most importantly 4. Windows 7 Pro.

Amusing all the laptop "deals" that newegg is running right now, with of course Windows 8 included.

I value my time to some extent, and can't think why anyone would be 1st to use Windows 8; just asking for trouble and a lot of wasted time in my book.

Lenovo Edge E535 details of the 32605VU unit that I bought: AMD A4-4300M 2.5GHz, 15.6" screen, 500GB HDD, 4GB memory (1 DIMM, with open slot for a 2nd DIMM),

Likely won't be shipped until sometime Monday, so I still have more than a day to cancel.

Can't think why I'd cancel, given that I got the unit for $432 (shipping included). smile.gif

www.notebookreview.com I suppose is what you are looking for. Besides the reviews/articles, that site has a very active forum as well.

And if you participate in their forums, be prepared to deal with a bunch of childish posters that abuse the reputation system and moderators that play clear favorites with respect to who they hand out warnings and punishments to.

So far www.notebookreview.com is the one site that I've looked at and signed up for.

It gets me started with a web site that has active forums, as well as active reviews of current laptop computers.

Thanks for your words of caution.

Do you have a recommended web site recommendation for general laptop info?
