Where to get 1" MDF

None of my local suppliers carry it, only 3/4".

Thinking of just doing 3/4" all around and gluing and screwing two pieces together for a 1 1/2" front baffle.

This will be housing a 33 lb 15" driver.

That's what I've always done. 3/4" all the way around + doubled up 3/4" for the baffle.

I always like to use 1" plywood for my mounting surface then the flush mount top can be MDF. It makes a nice difference in torquing down the sub. Ply is much better than mdf in that way.

For the size of box you were planning on using, 3/4 inch all the way around is plenty, if you add in some bracing. I would use a thin piece of Baltic Birch plywood behind the MDF baffle to screw into. I have had issues with T-nuts before so I would not recommend them to anyone.

a local shop carries it but its cheaper to buy 2 sheets of 3/4 and glue it together. eek.gif

Wish I had seen those before I bought my T-nuts... I haven't used them yet so I will just use drywall screws for now until I can get some on order! Thanks for posting this!!!
