Some Walmart BF Blu-ray specials

I also braved the throngs at Wally-world yesterday, and here a few of the more mention-worthy deals I noticed. I think these prices are still effective today (11-24-12), but many will be sold-out online, and probably also in stores. There were a number of 3-film Blu-ray combo packs, including a LOTR theatrical combo, for $9.00. A few of the better ones are also noted below. (BB has many of the same combo packs for $9.99.)

$3.96

  • 007 Die Another Day (2012 edition)
  • 007 Goldfinger (2012 edition)
  • Alien
  • Aliens
  • Book of Eli
  • many of the Harry Potters
  • Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut)
  • LOTR theatrical versions (BD+DVD)
  • The Matrix

$9-$10

  • Many of the other 2012 007 films were/are $9.96, including Diamonds Are Forever.
  • Austin Powers 3-film combo
  • Heroes seasons 1-4? @ $9.96/season
  • Kubrick 3-film combo -  includes 2001, Clockwork Orange & The Shining
  • LOTR theatrical 3-film combo (BD only)
  • Ocean's 11-12-13 combo
  • Thor (same price at BB)

Many of the Potters, LOTRs and a few of the Bonds (including Dr. No and Thunderball) were also discounted on DVD (many as low as $1.96). And there were also some cheapo DVDs of mostly older PD stuff for $0.96 w/o keep-cases, including The 3 Stooges, and The Best of She-Ra! smile.gif

Another year, another BF stampede at WM. :D They had some fairly good deals on recent animated films, and various other odds and ends this year though. I picked up Oblivion, Brave, Rise of the Guardians, and Epic for $9.96 each, a Ben Hur & 10 Commandments combo, and LOTR trilogy pack for $6.96 each, and a couple Ice Ages for $3.96. The Wizard of Oz was also $3.96. And I probably should have grabbed that as well.

The discounted prices will probably be good at least through tomorrow, and possibly the rest of the weekend. Some titles above may already be sold out though.

Yeah, what was left was still on sale today. I got a few DVDs and a bunch of BDs, though after reading about their video quality, some are going back since they aren't appreciably better than the DVDs.Would have gotten all five of the Die Hard series at $3.96/ea., but had already gotten Amazon's Lightning Deal for ~$33, so screwed myself out of ~ $13. frown.gif At least I got the Bourne Trilogy for ~$12. I got the LOTR trilogy also, but wondering if the extended versions of the movies are worth the major extra $$$.

Think I mentioned this somewhere else, but there are so many versions of the Die Hards out, I have no idea which are best. I probably should also have mentioned that the LOTR trilogy pack for $6.96 included only the theatrical BDs. I prefer the extended versions myself, but haven't seen any good deals on those yet. A lot of people were complaining about the greenish color of the extended Fellowship of the Ring though. Not sure if that issue was ever resolved.

Dunno, just that the artwork for all five Die Hards shown in the Lightning Deal was the same as Wal-Mart's. I should have grabbed them anyway as it turns out that Amazon still hasn't shipped them, so could have cancelled.............. The big LOTR set is on sale for $39.96/Amazon and $39.99/Fry's. I've only seen bits n' pieces of the third movie on TV and don't know which version they broadcast.

Anyway, I still have so many movies and several long TV series to watch plus just got the $100 Bond w/Skyfall collection, so guess I'll wait another year or two for this to drop and return the theatrical release since the extended versions are so much longer and already have the theatrical DVDs to tide me over.

~$40 is about the best price I've seen on the extended set so far. I already have too many dips on these movies though, so I'll wait for it to come down a bit more.

I probably would've saved some bread if I'd gone that route as well, rather than getting the individual releases.
