failing ir and push buttons on projector not working

hello forum members

I have an 11 year old sanyo plv70 projector. the ir commands don't work very good any more and the push buttons on projector are also working on and off. i tried the reset button on the back of projector but still have the problem. could it be a bad ir board.

i would love to upgrade to a new projector but that might be in 2013.

any suggestion would be very much appreciaeted.

AN UPDATE TO MY PROBLEM;
what is strange is when the projector is off it always acccepts the ir command to turn on but once the projector is on the ir commands become unresponsive.

I put a older bulb in that is not new and dimmed out. Th ir commands seem to work better. It makes me wonder if a new bulb can draw to much power, taken away from other components in projector. hmm
