Onkyo 818 has Auddesey XT32 and thats why I didn't close the loop to all Audessey versions. I haven't experienced any AVRs wih AudesseyXT32. Onkyo 818 is another awesome receiver! (have couple of issues with scalers; but not big deal). I wish to hear this 818 someday; but this comment "this receiver beats my Emotiva UMC-1/Rotel RB-985 combo"; thats refering to Pioneer 1222; that is much to say! Imagine how awesome this 1222 receiver performs!!

Sadly I dont know any one locally with an Onkyo 818 or any receiver with XT32.. But all I can say; after hearing this Pioneer with D3 amps and Advanced mcacc; I will not look any further. I'm pretty sure if Pioneer release any SubEq on the next generation of AVRs then Audessey should start to shake their knees. I own an Onko 515 in which I sold it to get the 616; but when I saw this receiver for $599; and started reading the specs then I get rid of the idea of the 616 and got this receiver. I'm GLAD I spent $200 more to get this receiver vs the 616!

Javygonx walkthrough worked great for me! No actually I did not get them through ebay. I got the RTI12 from Frys electronics then the FXI A6 and CSI A6 on Amazon.com!

The lack of subeq wasn't a huge issue and your still satisfied with your bass? I got your attachment, thank you! Still trying to figure out if this is the purchase for me. I hope I'm not missing a key aspect or something. Thanks for your insights!

Awesome! Your totally happy with the 1222k purchase too?
Hmmm. I am very impressed with it, but to be honest I am very new to home theater so I dont have much to compare it too. Previously all I had was a HTIB system. Comparing it to that I am more than happy.

Although I wish it had wireless internet without having to purchase an additional product with apps built in frown.gif. Also would be nice to wirelessly connect to my ipad.

I was reading somewhere that someone used this to fix the wireless problem: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WBX9C6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3JSSGDOI1SGX6

I dont know if this works or not, but some ppl seemed to think it did.

Can anyone that owns a 1222-K comment on the HDMI startup time (if you arent using pass through, basically the time from turning the receiver on to it actually giving your TV a signal) and how long it takes to switch between HDMI sources?

My current Onkyo takes 20 seconds from startup before it ouputs to my TV. Not a big deal, but since the TV comes on the same as the receiver I get 5 or 10 seconds of "searching for signal" on the TV screen.

Thanks in advance.

Scott, if you have a wireless router all you have to do is to plug the ethernet cable from your router to the ethernet port on tne receiver. Doing that you can use your ipad wirelessly on the receiver.

i. I believe it takes around 5 seconds. I can confirm this tomorrow.
UPDATE: Yes, it takes around 5 seconds; when switching inputs and getting image when turning on receiver maybe 6-7 seconds....

Well, just bit the bullet and got the SC-1222-K. My current 1021-K is just not what I wanted. Off to Craigslist it goes!

LOL Negative; I work for HP as a System Engineer. But I can say this receiver is really AWESOME (SC1222 and above).... I have a Denon 3311 as I said before; and this Pio is better!... Im just orienting. People invest money and then don;t like the receiver they bought at all.; Well with this I can confim this is the BEST receiver I ever had. Other receivers I own (Marantz SR6003, Onkyo 609, Onkyo 515, Yamaha A1000, Yamaha 471, and old Denon I can't remembered the model and the 3311CI. From all; the Marantz was awesome but do not passthru 3D. Oknyos has good power but quite harsh, Yamaha was great for music; ok for Movies; YPAO was not good enough on my room/setup. And 3311 does a way better job on movies than Yamaha; pretty good on music and is a great receiver; but this Pioneers with D3 and Advanced MCACC is the bomb!...

I can read the manual, but quick question, is this MCACC the advanced one with mutliple seating positions?

But that would involve running wires from my den to the theater room. Thats a big no no from the gf smile.gif

While I don't know the reliability of them, the ethernet things that plug into the wall socket seem to work reasonably well.

javygonx, I am more than happy with my SC-1222 and its deep bass, anyway I would like to follow your guide, according to what others are telling here, I presume that it is much better than the MCACC guide available in the official MCACC page of this forum.

I was thinking in offering you the posibility of hosting your word document as PDF to be linked here or from any other place, but you are a system engineer so I assume that you have resources. Anyway if I can help you on making your wizard widely available, please let me know.

Regards

SC-1222 comes with vTuner internet radio and Pandora. Maybe you are missing Spotify, iTunes or TuneIn, but Pandora is the best free online radio regarding quality.

You can also stream media from any other source in your home network, and you can also use the iPad/iPod/iPhone/Android remote (simply amazing) and AirJam app for parties.

You can enjoy all this just connecting your SC-1222 to your home network. In case you do not have the receiver close enough to your home router, you can always use a wifi access point or a power line ethernet adaptor as GaryWA suggested.

Yes you can setup up to 3 positions. Altough not in Full Calibration Mode". I will check it out and post here how to do multiple positions.

Hi, I dont have a server to host it but sure, lets do this so everyone can try it. I cant say if its much better than the mcacc guide availble on the net. But I can assure is more simple, easy and with great results. This document is only the basics. Later I will do a more advanced procedure. Its in the works right now. But I can guarantee that this first version works great. Just 5 pages of document. I wiil port it to pdf too. So if you have the server then let me know and we can start working on it. Thanks to all for being interested in this guide. I want to hear any feedbacks from it. Thank you.

What is this guide you are working on? Your sub one was great! Also, this AVR is not able to do spotify? Quick question, if you stream spotify or any music for that matter from a ipad, andriod, etc. does it come across in 5.1 or stereo surround mode? I have always wondered if it will come over as stereo quality

Airplay can stream multichannel audio to the SC-1222. If you listen the 5.1 podcasts from HolophoneTV in this receiver, you will be amazed. You can always stream Spotify, youtube, vimeo, hulu, netflix... Virtually anything from your iPad, iPhone, iPod or Android.

This is the guide I was refering to: official-pioneer-mcacc-thread. I am really curious about yours.

Trying to get a better understanding. The calibration set all my speakers to large, yet I can assure the mic that they are not. I set them to small. The mic set the x-over to 80 which is what I normally do. I guess I'm confused about x-over setting versus small/large and the effect it has. Any insight? Ideally I want the speakers to roll-off the <80hz to the sub. Setting to small, seemed to increase the sub usage.

In interested on this as well. I want to learn more wink.gif.
When you set speakers to "small" anything below the crossover point, lets say 80hz gets sent to the sub.

However, if you set it to "large" ALL frequencies are sent to that speaker, regardless of the crossover, or the ability of the speaker to produce those frequencies.

That's why it's recommended to set ALL speakers to "small" and xover at the highest out of your speakers. IE. your surround can only go to 75hz, so set it to 80hz even if your main can go down to 40hz.

I see what you are saying now. Would this be the same if you 7.1 set up consist of 7 towers?

Yep. That's one thing about Pioneer I don't like, universal crossover. Other brands you can set a crossover for each individual speaker. But oh well, not a big deal.

I was looking at the Denon 33xx series, and I believer their crossover are discrete...I'm guessing discrete means that you can set the crossover for each speaker?
