Hey did you guys get stickers on the front of your receiver. I seem to remember one of you did, but I didn't. Not a big deal, just curious..

Rumor has it if you talk to J&R I think, you can get them down to 750 or so.

Is it a great deal at that price? Yes. But at that point you are comparing apples to oranges: 750.00 for an 818 vs 529 for this Pio. Thats a 30% price difference.

I would expect the 818 to be better, and on paper it is, but Onkyos "reliability" has to sit in the back of your mind for a while....a lot of their biggest issues dont show up until years into ownership so who knows if the 818 as we see it today is "rock solid".

Is Newegg the only one discounting the SC-1222-K? For us Canadians, it's not possible to order from Newegg. Any suggestions for that receiver close to the Newegg price? Thanks.

Hi Folks,
Will I be able to run my front L&R speakers off another amp & have the center & surround speakers powered by the pio 1222, pls?

So does this receiver Eq the sub?
I DISCOVERED A COOL THING!

You know with this receiver if you're watching a movie and want to calibrate the EQ and go into the settings...immediately the receiver cuts off the audio. Well, if you have music playing off of a usb drive, then it doesn't happen smile.gif

If you have Best Buy in Canada they will price match.

I didn't get those. Is it possible I got a refurb, or someone in China just forgot to stick them on?

Yes

That's how I am running mine. FRONT PRE OUT to power amps (no speaker wire connected to FRONT R/L on 1222) other speakers powered by speaker connections on 1222.

The only thing stuck to the front of mine was tape to keep the cover closed.

I hadn't considered the refurb or open box possibility. Mine seems new / unused. I was surprised that it was not in any kind of bag - just padded wrap. Just me or is no bag the norm?
Thanks, I will give that a try, except the model at the Bestbuy is an sc-1227 (canadian version).

This got me to try the usb input. First I hooked-up a 1TB drive in a dock. 1222 says drive empty!

Then I tried a 16GB thumb. 1222 said, "Please wait ..." then, "No Device or wrong device" then ... folder access and I was able to play music files.

So I went back to the 1TB drive. This time I kept my eyes on the display. 1222 said, "Please wait ..." for a while, then "No Device" for a second, finally "Empty." This drive is used for general backup, got alot of stuff besides music, so the music files aren't at the top of the directory. I thought that during the "Please wait ..." the 1222 might be searching for recognized files and the search might time out.

I tried moving a folder of mp3's to the top of the directory but still got the "Empty."

Has anyone used usb input for larger/dock drives? Does it have a drive size limitation?

Mine was exactly the same way. Wrap with just a sticker to hold the front panel closed. No stickers at all..

I just got mine delivered today, no stickers, just blue tape holding the front panel closed.
It appears to be brand new, they must've just run out of stickers.

Does the 1TB drive use GPT formatting? Wondering if the Pio cant recognize that.

I do not remember for sure (don't want to set it up again to check) but since it's just 1TB, pretty sure it is not GPT.

About the sickers ... maybe no stickers is why I was able to get mine for just $529?

Don't think so, I also paid 549.99 from the same vendor (Newegg). I doubt they are selling used or refurbished stuff, they have a good reputation and are in business for a long time.

Sorry, I was just kidding - should have added a ... smile.gif Trying to imply the stickers add $20+ to the price. No intention of tarnishing the egg.
Not sure but I think the 1222 can only play files from USB devices formated as FAT32. Large disks are normally NTFS. See pag 44 on the manual.

Cool. I remembered I did it once but couldnt remember how I did it. Now you trigger few neurons on my brain. I was playing music on my iphone connected on the usb port on the 1222. So I will try it again to perform a better 2ch Eq for music smile.gif, and also to tweak more the low freq smile.gif

No stickers on mine either. One piece of blue tape holding door closed. Everything looked factory packed to the best that I can tell. Unit looked good and is working great. I guess that I'll look at it as a time saver from having to peel them all off.

I got the unit through newegg. Maybe that's why it was so much cheaper than other sources as it didn't have these high dollar stickers on it. tongue.gifwink.gifrolleyes.gif

Make sure to use a FAT32 file system device, devices formatted with NTFS will not work. You can easily do that in windows explorer, just right-click the usb flash drive letter and select "Format".

My emailed invoice said the same. I don't know what the RT stands for.
