CEC over HDMI?

post #1 of 5

Anyone using CEC over HDMI to turn on the TV and such?

i've found https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec and heard that raspberryPI has support for it... but how about using it on regular HDMI video out? is this realistic?

silly me, following the link in the README to the company that wrote the code I can find a USB->HDMI CEC adaptor...

and they even sell a nifty linux HTPC... interesting. i may look it up again when i'm past the cardboard-bench-case phase

But the question is still on the open: anyone using CEC directly from the video out?

I haven't followed it at all, but I don't believe CEC is ready yet in the way that you desire. Here are some resources that you can search through:
* Linux Media Mailing List search
* Phoronix search

I've used it with the Raspberry Pi and XBMC, worked really well right out of the box. I also have a couple of the pulse-eight USB adapters, works well on my Samsung TV and LG TV/Panasonic AVR setups
