Thanks for the informative review, Ralph! cool.gif

I finally got around to watching this in 3D and found myself to be very satisfied with all aspects of the film and the new purchase.

Very happy to have this one added to my private collection... smile.gif

A absolutely great movie!! We had not seen it in a long time and the Blu-ray was well worth the wait . I was thought the story line was great with action ,funny moments and the drama. The video and audio were enjoyable as well with truly vivid colors during the tank scenes and depth throughout even on a 2D plane lol!! The surrounds were very very active and the off screen action up front always followed accordingly with bass it came when called for especially the submarine scene and Darla visit WOW!!!

I just picked up my copy two weeks ago.

The quality is amazing, but can anyone explain why the DVD was in 2.35:1 and the blu-ray is in 1.78?

I was really looking forward to a scope version. frown.gif

OAR is 1.85 and the original DVD was 1.85 (or 1.78) with a P&S 1.33 version. Are you saying the DVD included with the 3D set (I only watched the 3D BD) is matted or re rendered to 2.35?confused.gif Also why would you prefer a modified aspect ratio over the OAR?

EDIT: Just checked the digital copy version and it's OAR. Don't feel like pulling out the BD set to check but hard to imagine the DVD would be different.

I hear ya and totally agree. I wasn't talking about the 3D, but more the aspect ratio. I had the DVD with me until I got the BR version and gave it to my sister. I've been trying to find others who have seen it on-line in the wider format. I have found some people on other forums saying they saw demo clips of the blu-ray in a 2.4:1 and also disappointed that it was released in 1.85. So I don't know if I'm the only one going crazy. But I do see that the OAR is in fact 1.85. Weird.

But I would prefer a scope version. It's impressive. Movies likes The Incredibles, Ratatouille and A Bug's Life is impressive to watch on a scope screen. smile.gif

Just got 3D version of this movie in collector's edition 5-disc pack for $27 on sale at Best Buy. Played in our new Samsung 60" plasma (E7000), Panasonic DMP-BDT220 player and the Yamaha YAS-201 soundbar.

It is the very first 3D movie I have seen on our TV or anyone's TV, outside of an IMAX experience. Holy wow! Unfreakingbelievable, if you ask me. My kid put on the glasses and she was absolutely blown away and loving it.
