Best Place to buy HTPC

Thread Starter
Just got an HTPC from dhubcomputers.com. I am writing this from my sofa and i must say.... nice! Has anyone else out there purchased through dhub? The website was pretty basic, but from all the reasearch i did before buying, I could not find a system in my budget of 1500 bux. dhubcomputers had a pretty nice system for hundreds less. I would love to hear any other stories.

Waste of money. I could build a better HTPC in less than 60min for a lot less.

How much was this system? Should be under $600 fully configured for HTPC use or build yourself and configure yourself for less. It can be built in an hour but setting it up will take considerably longer than that.

15min to set up MPC-HC for my mini-ITX box. Playback only, so no tuners or anything fancy.

from Dan's website... under the products link - "Starting at $999"
I think he wants to be able to retire after his 1st week of operation.

It takes that long to install Windows before installing all the updates. Then there's downloading and installing all the drivers. After that, the HTPC software. No, it takes longer than 15 minutes to configure a new PC for HTPC use.

10min for Win 8 to install on an SSD, 5 min for Win 8 updates, 5 min for drivers, 15 to set up the player.

I have a few more things that that going on but I'm not going to argue this any more. If the OP has never built a PC before, configuring it will take longer. Let's not mislead novice people on how long it will take them to do it.

That guy's site does't even tell you what software you get and there is no intel options at all. WOW! Good luck!

Per hiswebsite...
Code:
Website best viewed in 1360x768 Resolution

So, yes, please build me a $1000 plus computer, but let's not bother with that new-fangled 'dynamically sizable' website nonsense.

This is pretty amusing. I'm gonna grab some popcorn and watch this one play out.
