My BIC America f12 sub sounds like rubbish

Well, its a budget sub, u cant expect it to have deep bass like the REAL subwoofers have (SVS, HSU etc )

Take the front grill off. mine used to rattle with the grille on.

It's such a nice lookiung sub that I took the covers off and placed them in storage when I had them.

What kind of "rattle" is it? Sure it is coming from the sub?

I can't imagine what could be rattling. Mine were built like tanks.

mine doesnt rattle either. how did you set it up? phase, crossover, gain etc.? maybe something went into the port? my nephew threw a fking marble in there. caused rattle and i had to fish it out. try shaking the sub after you unplug and see if you hear anything in there.

As said above, you get what you pay for. This might sound harsh, if so I'm sorry.

If it rattles when played then it is broken. Send it back.

I'm looking to pick this sub (Bic Amer. f12) up or the Polk PSW505. Which of these two subs would you guys go with?? I know, I know...they are budget subs. I'm looking for a quick fix until I get my REAL sub . Besides, one of these budget subs should be fine in my bedroom once I get my powerful, earth shattering sub!

Take it back, if replacing it is not an option, make sure all the screws are tight on the woofer, the amp, the feet.Try placing it at a different location, it may be something near it that's rattling. If not, then check the gain level of your receiver, it may be set too high. does it happen at low volume?

Yes I agree that you need to have it replaced. I have the F-12 and have never heard any rattling or distortion, even in strenuous movies like War of the Worlds.

Really? Your best advice is you get what you pay for???

I own a BIC F12 as well as 2 Ultra 5400's and I can tell you that the F12 doesn't make a rattle sound even at the lowest frequencies although it doesn't have a lot of output down there either.

What are you listening to when its making this rattle?

As i was trying to say before the site went down or whatever happened.........Amazon has an amazing return program. I ended up returning my Bic F-12's because I needed something more. I printed off the return label from my order history, put the subs back into their boxes, attached the return auth form and dropped it off at a local ups store. I believe i did this on a Monday and by Tuesday I had an email from Amazon stating they would be returning my money.......minus shipping of course. They didn't even get the subs back until that Wednesday.

In your case, they should refund all of your money if you are returning the item since the item is defective. Not sure about how returns work. I guess they would send you out another once they get the return but I would say give them a call. They will probably send you another one at the same time you're returning the defective one.

Yes that F-12 is clearly defective, I am confident when it is replaced you will be pleased with it.

Yeah, telling someone you get what you pay for isn't cool at all in this situation. Not everyone can afford an expensive sub and others just don't want to pay a lot for a sub. No matter what it is, if you paid your money for it, it should work properly.

Wow, that sub really sounds messed up. I returned a defective sub to amazon. No problem. They sent a UPS truck to my house and picked it up. The driver had a pre-made shipping label. They credited my debit card the full amount two days later.
Didn't have to pay a nickel.

Wow...that really does not sound good at all. Clearly there is something wrong with it. As far as the silly comment you get what you paid for....I got 2 BIC PL200s. I think they are about a step up from the F-12 and I have had no issues at all with them. I got them for $300 each. When you sent it back see if you can upgrade to the PL-200. It looks just like the F-12 but just a little stronger.

That was a stupid comment. Like if you "only" pay $200 you should expect it to rattle.
