Alright, emailed amazon. They offered a refund, but I'm just going to stick with the f12. I'm a college student, and my dorm room is pretty small so this is more than enough.

It's a fine sub for the price. Clearly your current one is defective, but one that runs properly should make you happy.

Didn't even realize amazon had already shipped a replacement!

What a good feeling... smile.gif

Amazon is fantastic in my experience. I have bought many things from them.

That is why I had advised calling them. They will usually go ahead and ship a new one without waiting for the return.

Yes, clearly defective... I use a BIC f12 as my shop sub now and I beat on it a lot more than your average sub as its literally playing at least 8 hours 5 days a week with no issues(some days almost full tilt)... In 100+ summer days the amp does get hot but has yet to fail me even though I fully expect it to eventually.

Now thats a testament to reliability. How long have you had it in the shop?

I had the F12 for a short period and for what it was, it sounded good. The problem being was that my room is just to big for it and me being a basshead, it just was not enough. It is a good sub and has good bass, it is an all around good sub for movies and music.

Right at a year now... I moved it over a little bit after I got my first Ultra. I didn't enjoy the way it sounded inside my house for music but it actually sounds really good in my open shop. Although I'm also running it paired with Polk rta12's running full range with another velodyne 10. (Frankenstein setup.)

It makes me want to take my dual ultras up there as I get a lot more use out of a sub up there then I do at home but unfortunately the ultras are a little harder to move around. hah

sounds like the voice coil is out of alignment or possibly one of the tinsel leads is hitting the cone.

i had a PL-200 with a similar problem. since i cant leave well enough alone, i cracked it open and troubleshot it to the tinsel. i repositioned it and all is well. iirc, one of the leads was slightly shorter than the other. not really a defect, maybe a design flaw. either way, all is well now.

or you can send it back.

probably a stupid question, but did you tighten down the speaker terminals on the back of the sub?

If you would have expressed your displeasure with Amazon a little more thoroughly, you could have had a replacement AND some money off the replacement for all the hassle and inconvenience. For example, I ordered a treadmill from amazon 1.5 years ago. An $800 purchase, mind you. On the day it was set to arrive to my house, it never showed. I called amazon and they claimed they were showing it at the couriers warehouse. The courier swore up and down they never received it from amazon to deliver to me. This went back and forth for a day or two. I was getting really irritated. I wanted the thing I just paid $800 bucks for. Finally, amazon said they didn't know where my treadmill was and would ship me out a new one free of charge. I said NAY! Not good enough. I wanted a partial refund for all the hassle and phone tag they forced me to play. Amazon then stated they would refund $140 dollars back to my card for all the trouble. That pacified me. I've done this with defective items I have received as well. Next time, get what's coming to you. You deserved to have a perfectly good and working item the first time.
