Canadian who can't decide :(

Hi,

Trying to catch canadian cybermonday sales. I need a sound system for my apartment. Total sqft including balcony and two bedrooms/storage room/2bathrooms is like 1300, so my guess on tv area is like 400-500 tops? Need to find sales info when i bought this condo. For now I attached some pics... So with this space in mind. Aesthetics for a room like this. Not being able to run wires and so on. (I know rocketfish wireless...) Let run down my ideas so far.,

Go cheap... 5.1 Wireless Soundbar setup
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1156856&sku=V25-7010

It's a refurb.... I like the idea of a wireless sub+2 back speakers then the center sound bar giving you a 5.1. Read up on the unit besides the LED issue and some quality issues they seem half decent. Price after tax/shipping is $315 Any comments on this vizo unit?

Go Medium 896$ after tax for a samsung 7.1 htib
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX40144

It comes with the rear wireless adapter and it is a 7.1 technically ... Seems interesting and like one of the better htib

Other idea was
http://www.visions.ca/Catalogue/Category/Details.aspx?categoryId=166&productId=9206&sku=HTS7409

This onkyo is on sale right now for $660 after tax. I would still have to get a wireless adapter for the back. Comes out to the same price as the samsung... Only a 5.1

ANy other ideas? Should i just give the samsung a try ? OR could i do something better for 900$ keep in mind i need rear wireless.

I don't care about bluerays or smart tv features all that much. I have a ptv3000... WIDI/Miracast..... My phone/Laptop own smart tv platform. I use netflix/my PVR/MKV's off laptop

im of the opinion that if you're going to spend money on a surround sound system rather than using your tv speakers, its wisest to go big or go home...not insanely big, but I would shop for a receiver that is upgradable. Home theatres in a box sometimes have their own weird speaker output terminals which means you cant upgrade speakers later because they dont have the proper plug. Or if one of the speakers blows you wont be able to replace it unless you get a replacement from the manufacturer of that specific speaker type with that specific speaker wire...tip(for lack of a better word).

So make sure the speaker plugs on the receiver are just the standard type where you can just push in the speaker wire and screw it into place or use a banana plug.

The soundbars are only going to give you 2 channel surround. your TV has 2 channel surround so a soundbar wouldnt be much of an upgrade other than a volume and clarity increase and/or subwoofer addition over your tv.

As for the wireless rear speakers...I dont know how well they work as far as quality is concerned but im skeptical...I would suggest going wired and just taking an hour to tape the wires along the baseboard to the right of the TV, under the sliding doors and over to behind the couch...if you do a good job it wont be an eyesore. Keep in mind that will be another ~50 bux in speaker wire (another issue with theatre in a box with specific speaker plugs; the wires are only as long as they make em, so you cant be sure it will stretch behind the tv.)

Personally I would go with the Onkyo you linked.

last thing: I suggest going to a local store with an easy going return policy just in case you dont like your purchase or if it doesnt work well...Receivers tend to be finicky with DVRs for some reason.

Take your time and dont make a rash purchase. Dont let anyone pressure you to decide before you're ready to buy what you think will be best
