I just got Yamaha V671 today. Already have Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Klipsch+-+ProMedia+2.1+Speaker+System+%283-Piece%29+-+Black/9382232.p?id=1218095770265&skuId=9382232&st=9382232&cp=1&lp=1#tab=reviews)

I have tried many many things but can not get speakers to work. What am I missing? any help will be appreciated. Searching did not help much.

how do you have them connected?

Those are powered speakers ment to be hooked up directly to a computer. They're not designed to be used with an AV receiver.

If you're desperate you can hook up the two satellite speakers to the front left and right speaker terminals of your receiver. You should change speaker impedance setting on your receiver to 6 ohms, the instructions are near the back of the manual. You won't be able to connect the subwoofer to your receiver.

aahhh. I did not know about that.

Finally what I ended up doing was using a 1/4" to 1/8" converter and connect the speakers to headphone jack of receiver. That way it gets output from receiver.
I am assuming that with this setup, I am not using the receiver to it's full potential, correct?

For a newbie, can you please point me to some pages where I can read more about the kind of speakers I need, or some other general stuff about receivers.

I appreciate your time!
