For Sale:
2 X Passive 2011 JTR Captivators

Will Ship To: Nowhere -- local only

Guys - Regretfully up for sale is my pair of 2011 JTR Captivators in excellent condition. Only selling to further fund my DIY interest. These are the same subs demoed in the October NE GTG. I have all original packaging and the port plugs for both. I would strongly prefer a local pickup, but would be open to working with a potential buyer with shipping if need be. These have the standard black finish and have speakon connectors on the rear. Each sub is rated at 4000W RMS / 7200 watt peak power handling. These subs are 1500 each plus shipping from JTR. Amplifier not included in sale as these are passive subs. I can include a Beringer BFD (with original box) EQ for 50.00 with purchase. Any questions don't hesitate to give me a shout!

I have driven these both with a Beringer EP4000 and Crown XLS5000. Both sound great and they don't need a ton of power to produce massive output.

***SOLD***

I am located in Thornton, PA about 20 minutes South of the Philadelphia airport.

New pictures added 12/3:

Thanks!

Andrew

LOL, can't believe it took you this long to respond. I'm really not 100% that I should sell them, but figured I would throw it out there.

Haha, I wouldn't be surprised if your classified turns into one of those epic general conversation threads you are becoming know for…

A few things I have to say about the seller and the product he is selling in an attempt to keep this on topic.

First of all, Andrew is a stand up guy, no question you will get whatever product he is selling as advertized.

Second, I was able to attend the October NE GTG to hear the Cap's first hand. They are among the most impressive subs I've ever heard. I go so far as to say it would be extremely hard for any other single driver to match the dynamic capability of this sub given its design limitations. I've owned a few different subs in my day and currently own a pair of the LMS Ultras in a sealed configuration. Some argue the LMS-U's are one of the best drivers on the market today. Having heard my LMS-U pair directly head-to-head against a pair of Cap's in the same listening environment, I can honestly say that the Cap's are simply more fun to own!

They sound great in all applications, but excel in HT use where dynamic capability is paramount. These things are built to last! In fact, talking with Jeff Permian (owner of JTR) at Gorilla's get together I heard him mention that he's never had a Cap returned for failing.

$2,350 is an incredible price for a product that will literally last their next owners a lifetime, or until they develop some crazy DIY disorder and want to build a wall of subs for themselves (as seems to be the case with Andrew).

^ Thanks for the kind words, Austin. Someone is going to be very happy with these. I will keep them easily if I have to. biggrin.gif

Make sure you really want to part with them, there are times when watching movies that I wish I still had my Caps (like the Die Hard 4 apartment scene - why doesn't my couch feel like it's violently floating across the floor??? Oh yeah, no more Caps).

It will be hard to let them go for sure. Although I don't think I will be lacking in output once the next round of cabinets are completed. biggrin.gif

That just means you need more subwoofers. wink.gif

Ha, yeah eventually I may have to. Currently JTR has cleaned out my wallet so that will have to wait.

Figures that I am in the market for good subs and live right in Norristown, PA (about 45 minute ride) but only have about $1,400 to part ways with so going with duals is out of the question. If you are thinking about selling them separately let me know. The only issue is I was planning on purchasing either a SVS PB12 + or Rythmik FV15HP today.

If you heard the pair together at Gorilla's place, you would want to hit up one of those payday loan places I always see commercials for...

+1....

If I possibly needed more subwoofer than my pair - I would buy these from you Andrew. I just don't need more than two in my 3500 cubic foot space. The only time these things tap out is when the dedicated 20 amp circuit does.

*keeps hitting hand on forehead

MUST RESIST! FOUR IS NOT NECESSARY!

Andrew,

Your gonna miss this effect with your new sealed subs.

Yeah, but extra headroom always sounds better. Can you imagine how awesome your front wall would look with quad captivators? tongue.gifbiggrin.gif

Heck, ONE cap isn't really necessary. But four would be spectacular!!

Quad caps OMG Archaea's system is going to be sooo sick, you know he won't be able to resist, better start packing em up for him. Do It Jonathan

I've been living the dream, u know. Work's been a bit crazy since getting back from the trip, it just piles up while I'm gone so a vacation is fairly bitter sweet. I'm working today. WTF this sucks. I still haven't given the PSA enough listening time to post a decent review, I'll get that done. And I owe the BBQ technique to your GTG results thread. Why do today what I can put off till tomorrow?

So I gather you are going DIY? Do you have a build / design thread around? What components are you going with?

Hope all is well

Not sure if you pulled the trigger yet but you owe it to yourself to go listen to Gorilla's Caps. Words do not describe how big of a jump up they are. I realize they are more than you are looking to spend, but go listen, seriously. Suck it up and grab the duals, think of it this way, you're saving about a grand. It's just like putting money in your pocket :-) Besides the twins don't want to be separated, they're a team and like to share an amp.
