Need a low profile/thin center channel please

After replacing my Sony projection TV with a plasma, I realized that my old center channel can no longer sit on top of my TV tongue.gif

I have a spot for a CC under the TV but it needs to be relatively thin. My max height is about 4 3/4".

Can anyone recommend a lower profile center channel for ~$150? It's replacing a B&W CC3. The rest of the speakers are older Infinity towers with soft tweeters. I realize I won't get a perfect match but hopefully I can find something decent for clear dialogue in that price point. Thanks

Any suggestions at all? I know ideally I'd make room for a traditionally sized CC but unfortunately it's not an option. I'm really just looking for a decent CC that's less than 5" tall and $<150-200. Thanks

There's this- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_769CSB1210/Center-Stage-Bracket-CSB-1210-BLK.html and you won't need to buy a cheap center that doesn't match up with your other speakers.

That is an interesting bracket. However, it may void a TV warranty because of the pressure it would place on the bezel of the TV screen. Such pressure can and does cause uneven pressure on the edge of the LCD or plasma panel and may cause light leakage from the back lights or other damage to a plasma panel.

Some center channel speakers like my Infinity CC-2 weigh in at almost 22lbs. Many CC speakers are made rather heavy to dampen internal vibrations and resonance for optimum sound quality. I've seen some CC speakers run close to 30 lbs. I have my 46" LCD nestled in an oak TV ensemble with a "bridged": shelf between two side towers that have shelves. The wooden bridge is 2" thick but needs a center support to keep the CC speaker from warping it.

Says it's designed for speakers up to 25#. Plus it spreads the force out over 12" and much of the weight seems to be supported by the "brackets" in the back.

Even with some caveats it seems a better solution than buying a tiny center speaker that does not match the rest of your system.

But here is a slim, short speaker worth considering-
