So I'm new into the land of TV antennas and my family and I were planning on cutting the cord on satellite and seeing what we would get over an antenna.
I know if you are in a big city you can pick up some pretty nice channels. Unfortunately here it seems almost everybody has cable, and most of the locals just play scheduled tv and news.
The main locals are about 40 miles north of me, so I was assuming I'm going to be pointing my antenna to the north; However, is there any possibility I will be able to pick up any of the channels out of Miami? They are about 90 miles from here. They have cooler sub-channels and stuff.
So here are my questions:
What type of equipment do i need?
I understand LOS is the key to great reception but how about channels that are 1edge, 2edge and tropo?
Is 15ft an acceptable height?
Is it worth investing more money for a better antenna for a chance to pick up some of those channels?
Also what are some of those analog channels?
If you look below,
Below is my Tvfool.com results:

(Oh and I don't care about that VHF Channel.....It's just univision and I don't care about that)

I see that WGCU (PBS) is 1edge, will this cause any signal problems? I understand that VHF actually has the capability of a better range. I think I will probably get both antennas and the VHF low frequencies don't concern me anyways. The two low frequency VHF's are Spanish channels and they don't concern me too much. I'll do some more research and I will likely be ditching dish network after Christmas. Channel 7 is receivable via High-VHF correct?
