Samsung PN64E533 for $1399 at Costco - Page 4

I have received my WOW disc, and I've started to play with it
Color and tint in movie mode seem pretty well adjusted, not need to change
I moved from 16:9 to Screen fit to avoid any overscan (16:9 was overscanned by 5%). Will see the effect on a movie
I adjusted brightness, but for contrast (normally at 95) the pattern made me change it to 50, which was kind of "fade". I've put it back to 80. Same thing, will see with a movie

Other than that, I am still very happy with my plasma, especially for the price.....

What are your settings? I got mine at contrast 100, brightness 58, sharp 5, color 52 tint 50. Did you make any other changes?

I am curious to see the comparison on this compared to the new 2013 Panny tc-p65ps64 for 1398.00 at my sams club?
The panny pic was awesome for 1398 and a 65 incher

Saw this set in Nashville Costco yesterday for $999. Very tempting but I was shopping for a 55" set so didn't look very hard. I'm going back today to possibly by a Vizio 55" (M550SL) for $749 or this set. I can't haul it home vertically and a rental truck would just add to the cost so I'm probably going with the Vizio. I'll be watching a lot of old football games on it (4:3) so I'd also concerned with the plasma's burn-in.

ETA: wound up getting neither of these. Got the Samsung UN55FH6030 instead.

Thanks for the pricing tip smile.gif ... I was able to get a manager at a Costco here in So.Cal to price match the Nashville Costco. Great Bang for the Buck!

Can anyone tell us if this Plasma Picture is actually bright enough ( I know...its not LED or LCD bright) but bright enough to face an open window in front of it? Just seeing if direct light actually washes the picture out.wink.gif

Purchased the PN64E533D2 back in JAN '13 at Costco for the $1250, then went back a couple of weeks later to get the $200 since they lowered the price (score!). IIRC, I did purchase the additional service plan.

Have an old 42" LG that is 5+ years old, wanted a larger screen size so originally went with a 65" LED (forget which one), but couldn't tolerate the difference between LED and Plasma so ended up with this. Couldn't be happier, and was about the same price as what I paid for the old LG. PQ is great. Regularly watch in a bright room with multiple northern windows with few issues, plenty bright. Initially heard some buzzing that seemed to get lower over time, and now I don't notice it at all unless I TRY to hear it.

Anyway, over the past two days, it would power itself off and then back on for short intervals. Red power light would blink 3x. Now it won't turn on at all. Called Costco Concierge Service and after basic "are you sure it's plugged in" troubleshooting steps, I now have an appointment scheduled with a service center. They did have me unplug TV from wall, hold down power button for 30 secs, then plug back in... no change. Once plugged back in, could hear a slight pop near the power cord when it would power itself on.

As I have been searching AVSForums for this problem, the TV has been sitting here presumably off. About once every 10-15 mins or so, it will randomly power itself on for 5-30 seconds, then power off again.

We'll see what happens next, will update here.
