AVS is a good sourcing for reading on a specific model but when it comes to seeking advice or help, typically Newbie, such information is difficult to search for. I wonder if I am looking it up wrong

Setting up my first home theater with a projector, Newbie need help, please advice.

I have a 20*14 room, no windows, 9 ft ceiling, no windows, lights can be turned down to make it abs dark.

Yamaha RX-A820
Sony BDP-S590 3D Blu-ray
Boston acoustic system 10K for 7.1, 10" down firing sub

My desires: Watch Fantastic 2D movies with good contract and dark blacks, Watch games, may be hook up a xbox later and some 3D movies. in that order

Looking at

JVC DLA-RS48 Projector
Panasonic PT-AE8000
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5020UB

No Idea on screen, but set on 120" given the room, with 1.1 gain(?) and 500 budget

I am stuck on choosing a projector, hear good things on JVC for 2D, read a lot which says there is barely any difference in 3 projectors, some say nigh and day. I know decision is person but I cannot put them side by side.
I would really like a cinema experience(immersion) with high PQ

Any thoughts?

Interesting choices, the JVC is not considered in the same price range as the AE8000 and the 5020UB, so if you can afford that one, that would be a great choice.

If your more in the $2500-3000 range, I would suggest the 5020UB over the AE8000 since it has a better lifetime warranty, cheaper bulb ($299 vs $399), and overall better calibrated lumens. Here's a good review that goes over the main talking points of the AE8000 vs the 5020UB.

Good luck!

Since you are planning to do some gaming, make sure you consider input lag in your selection criteria. The 8000 likely has the lowest lag in your list, and the other 2 will likely range from ok to unacceptable for gaming depending on the person.

If you are just looking at 2d image quality for movie viewing and deepest blacks, the jvc will likely lead the way followed by the epson.

Its a tough call. As someone not interesred in a 2 projector solution (eg 1 pj for gaming/3d like the benq w7000, and 1 unit for movies like the jvc), gaming lag always has played a role in my pj selections and has steered me away from jvc and epson, as much as id like to try them out.
